## About Chal Foundation
Chal Foundation is a sustainable initiative to serve the physically challenged people of Pakistan. We enable the physically challenged to:
- Walk, by replacing their missing limbs with prosthetics
- Stand, by providing orthotics for skeletal deformities
- Raise, by providing spinal cord injured with mobility aids (wheelchairs and crutches)
## Our Story
Chal Foundation opened its doors in response to the earthquake of 2005, led by a group of visionary civic and business leaders along with medical professionals who saw the need for quality, community-focused rehab services in the northwest suburbs after the earthquake.
When an injury, illness or natural disaster impairs you or your child’s ability to live to your full potential, you need the most skilled physical rehabilitation. Chal Foundation offers nationally recognized technical professionals, advanced technology, and inpatient and outpatient services for a full range of rehab specialties. These rehabilitation services include provision of assistive devices (prostheses, orthoses and wheelchairs) and physical therapy.
### Who are we :
* Incorporated as Not for Profit organization in july 2010.
* Certified by Pakistan Centre for Philanthropy (PCP).
* Tax Exempted under section 2(36) (c) of the Income Tax Ordinance, 2001.
* Regularly audited by one of the leading financial audit firms i.e. KPMG.
* Technically reviewed by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC).
### Vision
“Physically Challenged Persons of Pakistan Remain Contributing Citizens.”
### Mission
“To ensure innovative, exceptional and coordinated care as well as sustainability of appropriate rehabilitation services for persons with disabilities in Pakistan and facilitate their integration in mainstream society. We aspire to provide rehab services to the nearest locations possible for people in need by establishing a Model Rehab Centre at each District.”
### Our Nationwide Presence
Over a million individuals in Pakistan need assistive devices according to a study led by World Health Organization (WHO). To fill this gap an estimated number of almost 260 infrastructural units with different capabilities are required throughout the country. The sad part is, there are only 38 rehab centers functional at the moment with an annual growth rate of disability being 2.03%. Without sufficient availability – accessibility to rehab services cannot be guaranteed so there is a dire need for expansion and we have to accept this reality today not tomorrow!
