# Geo City RP Rules and Terms of Service ## What This Server Is Geo City RP is a **story-first 18+ adult GTA roleplay server**. Staff decisions are based on context, intent, and outcome - not technicalities. It is at the **Staff team's** discretion on how we handle rule breaks or poor RP situations. ## Community Standards Geo City RP is an **inclusive community** and discrimination has no place here. This is an **18+ server**. This world is based in GTA. Mature, adult themes and crude jokes *will* appear. You will encounter conflict, villains, loss, and uncomfortable storylines. You will encounter NSFW language at times. We do not condone ERP. **Zero tolerance for:** - Real-world slurs or hate speech - OOC harassment, threats, doxxing, or targeted bullying - Using "it's just RP" to justify real-world bigotry - Characters under the age of 18 If it's meant to target the **player**, not the **character**, it’s not allowed. If you feel targeted, open a report for further investigation. For all tickets, we will acknowledge your report and proceed from there. Sometimes a report doesn't warrant a ban, and in that case we will document the behavior so that if a trend develops we have the information. **Staff is never obligated to provide the outcome or publicly post information pertaining to a punishment.** ## Roleplay Expectations - Stay in character during scenes, **always**. - If someone says hi, say hi back, engage in the RP. If they aim a gun at you, chances are they want a hostage and you've just entered a scene. Go with the flow. - Handle problems **after** the scene, not mid-RP. Never EVER "rule-splain". If you notice you are over limits for a scene, find a creative way to say that instead. Or just remove or kick someone from the crew. - In-character conflict is expected, but bringing it OOC is not the right way. - Don't mention admins in city, aka things like "government", "prayer", "gods", "tickets" or "dad" IC. Handle it after the scene in Discord. There's never a reason to mention OOC tickets in-character. You are expected to treat the server like it's intended: a **roleplay** server. This isn't GTA:O, arena, or the local social club. You should come here to **play a character**, immerse **yourself** and provide quality roleplay for yourself and **others you encounter**. Some people are here for content, and others are here for slowburn RP. Both are OK. But you need to respect both. If you find yourself getting angry from a scene, take a minute, meditate and cool down. If you're still hot, maybe the character or type of roleplay you are engaging with is not for you. Make more than one character, join other factions and find a way to enjoy yourself. **If you're not having fun, there's nothing for you to gain while playing in our server, maybe our community is not for you - and that's OK. While we will miss you, you are free to step away at any time.** ## Conflict & Violence ### RDM - Random Death Match If you are going to engage in conflict RP, such as violence against another character, then it's a good idea that they know *why* this happens before you commit the act. If the receiving end doesn't know at least one of these: - **Who** or - **Why** Then it may feel very one-sided and doesn't give the other party any ability for counter roleplay, either in the moment or later on. Attacking without context or buildup can be considered RDM. ### VDM - Vehicle Death Match **Vehicles are dangerous weapons,** and being ran over by a car is not always VDM. Case 1: A person stands in front of your car not allowing you to leave, and you fear for your life, chances are you're going to push forward and run that person over. Gun in hand or not. That's not VDM, that's roleplay. Case 2: You're at a red light, 3 masked people jump out of a car guns drawn and tell you to get out - you aren't running over 3 people - you're going to die if you try. You wouldn't try to run them over. Comply, don't die, or else that may be considered NVL. ### NVL - No Value of Life You should value your character's life at all times, especially when it comes to conflict RP. Scenario 1: You're walking to the bank alone, someone jumps out at your character with a gun in hand and tells you to put your hands up; you should 100% always do this. If you don't, that's NVL. Scenario 2: You are walking and see a group of people and decide you want a quick score, so you pull your gun and tell them to put their hands up. One or two in the back of the group pull weapons and reverse it on you, tell you instead to put your hands up. They hold you at gunpoint until the cops arrive. If you decide to start blasting, you've accepted the fate you've chosen and that's considered roleplay. Scenario 3: You walk up on PD or a group of gang members, draw your weapon and try to hold them up. They say no way, pull their weapons and tell you to step away or put your hands up. If you don't comply, that may be NVL. ### Respect for Gangs and PD Gangs should be feared within the city, otherwise it gives them reasons to target civilians and no one wants that, right? Gangs should not randomly target civilians and civilians should fear gangs because of their "notorious reputation" as a known criminal organization. Police should be feared because they are the epitome of anti-crime. Their character exists to capture and investigate crimes within the server. You should not antagonize them without buildup or reason, and respect them when they arrive on scene to investigate, or pull you over for a traffic violation. Running from every traffic stop or treating cops as lootboxes isn't roleplay, it's low effort RP. Cop and gang roleplayers are people too, and deserve to be treated with the same respect you treat your friends, mechanics, fast food workers and all other civilians. Dislike and affection for characters should always end at the character, don't spread IC emotions into OOC. If your in-character argument begins with "the commandments/rules/angels/gods say...", you're missing the point of RP, and this may not be the right community for you. And that's OK. We'll be here when you're ready to try again. ## Fair Play Do not remove another player's ability to respond or choose their roleplay. You are removing their agency. **Examples:** - Torture RP (use `/me` to obtain consent: `/me (do you consent to removing fingernail?)`) - Forcing permanent injury or permadeath without giving a choice (refer to Torture RP example) - Pocket wiping someone over a 10 second scene or a gang war. Take what you need to survive and **GTFO** before reinforcements arrive. - Using technical server mechanics, exploits or emotes to bypass roleplay in some way. ## Staff & Enforcement In our server, our aim is to go back to the glory days of roleplay. This means less focus on rule violations, and more focus on encouraging amazing roleplay from our community. You shouldn't have to worry if a scene is going to involve you in a ticket afterwards, but you should also know that if there is a ticket to follow, we will treat it fairly with regards to our roleplay over ruleplay mentality. Staff is here to facilitate solid roleplay, not dictate or decide your characters actions. Anyone seeking to abuse the system are subject to removal from the community. We do not micromanage scenes or roleplay. You are an adult. We are all adults. The decisions we make are the decisions we live with, and at the end of the day, it's never that serious - we are playing a video game because we **enjoy** it. We are developing a server because **we enjoy it** and the **joy** it brings to our community. Therefore, serious punishment is reserved for: - Geo City RP ToS violations - Repeated bad-faith behavior - OOC harassment or abuse - Consistent refusal to engage in RP - Metagaming - Blatant behavior against the spirit of RP ## Technical Rules ### Limits - **Basic crime tier (store/house/gas robberies):** - **Criminals**: - 5 inside or outside - Anyone on the outside must be part of the original 5 - **Cops**: - Up to 8 + Air 1 or MBU (2 MBU count as ONE unit/pair) - **Anything riskier:** - **Criminals**: - 5 inside or outside - 1 outsider (car drop, car block, shooter, etc) - **Cops**: - Up to 10 + Air 1 or MBU - **Shots fired on officer (13-Alpha):** - All available units are allowed to respond at PD's discretion. (**GTFO!**) - **Gang zones** - As long as they exist in the server, do not treat them as zones or even refer to them as zones in the city. Your character does **NOT** know if there is a "red circle" surrounding an area. If you can see someone in the area, treat them as hostile and engage with them appropriately if you believe they are gang associated. We will no longer be gating the zones. If you are vulturing an area, expect to be met with lethal force or threats. - **Vehicles** - Weaponized vehicles are not allowed - Gunfights from bulletproof vehicles are not allowed - **Gang Wars** - Wait 1 hour between retaliatory conflict - Prolonged gang wars require a ticket to be submitted after the first day's conclusion for staff awareness - Ticket warriors will not be tolerated during gang wars. - More information will be provided in a future **Gang SOP**. - **Car Swaps** - No more than 3 car swaps or PD is automatically authorized to engage lethal force ## Government Corruption - Government corruption is allowed **only when it serves meaningful roleplay**. Playing a crooked character or running a criminal story arc off-duty is acceptable **as long as it is discoverable through RP**. - Government roles may **not** be abused for technical or mechanical advantage, including: - Deleting, falsifying, or altering reports for yourself or others - Using government armories to obtain, sell, or distribute government items - Using government vehicles, tools, or systems to powergame or avoid consequences - Abuse of government access or systems will result in **server punishment and permanent blacklist from government jobs**. If you are discovered committing crimes while employed in a government role, it will be treated as the **highest level of in-character crime**, and you are expected to face full IC consequences. Corruption that exists only to gain advantage - and not to create story - is a violation of the spirit of roleplay and will be dealt with accordingly. ## The Golden Rule You are sharing an immersive and ever-changing world. Your character's story affects other people's stories. **Play like that matters.** If you're here to cancel people or grief people, this isn’t your server. If you're here to immerse yourself, create stories for others and yourself, and are willing to accept that scenes will not always go the way you want them to, you've found your home. **Welcome to Geo City RP!** ## **The fine print** The following provisions govern liability, affiliations, purchases, and digital assets associated with Geo City RP. #### Disclaimer of Liability Geo City RP, its ownership, and its staff assume no responsibility or liability for any content, interactions, or experiences encountered while using the server.
