--- tags: Gaia --- # Gaia Festival GaiaFest is a multidimensional meta-narrative for Gaia. Each year she contains several narrative elements that converge on a single date each year in a networked art festival - gaifest.org ## GaiaFest as Festival The first festival will take place at COPP26 in Glasgow (November 2021). A call for rehearsals will go out on Earth Day (April 22nd 2021). The second festival will tke place at Stokholm+50 (june 1-3 2022). As currently structured the festival will consist of performances, talks, music and artistic intervensions in the tradition of a classic fringe festival (like the Edinburgh Fringe). It differs in her network structure, the way in which she connects elements through sound, and the shared meta-constitutional performance we call Gaia. ## GaiaFest Aims GaiaFest is a decentralised climate action festival (deCAF). In simple terms a deCAF festival is a coordinated set of gatherings, artworks and activities in which all participants share some common infrastructure that facilitates and encourages people to take action rather than remain passive observers. This may be to dance, scream, join or support imaginative projects that take climate action. A deCaf festival will often but not always have a narrative focus, and a central geographic focus. ### Statistical Chain Reaction ### Festival Currency ### Rehearsals ## 2021 Themes and seedings ## Governance Gaia is not a democracy, but she is democratic. As a legal performance, she is designed to experiment and innovate, not simply to conform to historical expectations. In our participation with her we are asked to consider the future we wish our children, and our childrens children to grow up in. In her governance we are able to design the best we are able such a future. Should we fail we always have Groundhog Day.
