# OMEGA + Forgeries


**Requesting 60 ETH** to launch the OMEGA onchain gaming console, deploy the Omega and nOmega DAOs, and drop a Noun 401 open edition for to play our debut cartridge – Forgeries: ALL of them are FAKE except ONE.

## Intro

We're seeking funding to cover the costs of building and auditing our protocol and frontend. We also intend to deploy the Omega and nOmega DAOs as protocol stewards. And finally, release a Noun 401 open edition on Zora for those looking to play Forgeries, our debut onchain gaming cartridge.

Our goal is to foster a community around a new hyperstructure for multiplayer onchain gaming that offers exciting onboarding opportunities and a new form of NFT collecting. At its core, a raffle drawing mechanism employs Chainlink VRF to ensure verifiable randomness and anyone can use this public infrastructure as a foundation for creating their own onchain gaming experiences. OMEGA is designed to be fair, trustless, open and free.

For our debut cartridge, Forgeries, we've created a game of skill where counterfeit copies of Noun 401 are minted as editions and mixed at random with the original. Players use their minted editions as entry tickets to participate and one of them with withdraw the actual Noun 401.

We've completed a [public audit contest](https://code4rena.com/contests/2022-12-forgeries-contest) with Code4rena. Everything is open source and available on our GitHub repository. Omega DAO and nOmega DAO lay the foundations for a novel approach to community-driven governance over the protocol.

## Background

Inspired by [MSCHF](https://mschf.com)'s [Museum of Forgeries](https://moforgeries.org/), Gami's anonymous purchase of Noun 401 was followed by a [tweet thread](https://twitter.com/0xigami/status/1579311847081025536) that caught Iain's attention. Soon after, they began working together on smart contracts for an NFT raffle drawing protocol. Iain's introduction of a merkle root layer opened up possibilities for games of skill, as opposed to chance alone.


This newfound potential prompted Gami to enlist the help of Emre and Jordan (designer of [0xchain.art](https://www.0xchain.art)), to develop what would become the first project built on our protocol. Since then, we've realised that our affinity for Nouns extends far beyond selecting Noun 401 as the prize for our first onchain gaming release.

## OMEGA

We've decided to deploy our protocol as a nounish public goods hyperstructure. Anyone can use the base protocol for free and developers are welcome to make it the foundation for all kinds of onchain gaming experiences they dream up. At its core, OMEGA is a fair and trustless raffle drawing protocol.


Our protocol provides a platform for builders to create and innovate, for artists to showcase and monetise their creations, and for collectors to win high value NFTs or provide liquidity. Chainlink VRF assures verifiable randomness and since any new or existing NFT collection can be referenced as entry tickets, our onchain games offer exciting new onboarding opportunities.

- Builders build on top of Omega using our hyperstructures
- Developers can deploy their own hyperstructures on top of Omega and get funded by Omega
- High net-worth collectors can raffle away their high value tokens and get liquidity (also use editions tokens to spin up their own communities)
- Artists can raffle away their artworks (minted through Zora)
- Collectors from all levels can participate in raffles and win life-changing NFTs.

Our strategy is to first get Omega into the hands of early adopters within the BuilderDAO ecosystem and its token holders. With their support, we will create a community around Omega and its hyperstructures. The success of our first season will pave the way for future seasons, each one more exciting and engaging than the last.

## Forgeries

We've been working on a frontend to facilitate the Forgeries authentication game, inspired by 80s computing magazines and Japanese gameshows, in order to make it a fun and attractive experience. Forgeries is a game where counterfeit copies of Noun 401 are created and mixed at random with the real thing – ALL of them are FAKE except ONE. In practice, Noun 401 is locked inside a contract deployed by our protocol, and can only be withdrawn by the owner of ID drawn randomly using Chainlink VRF for the reference NFT collection.

Therefore Noun 401 can only be withdrawn by an owner of the open edition NFT being deployed by this very proposal. The original design was to sell 1000 editions where 999 of them would be fake and 1 would be the real thing. We've superseded that version so in order to honour our OG open edition minters, we will airdrop them 2 for 1 or the required amount to maintain their % ownership of the supply (whichever is greater). Full details of the open edition configuration are included towards the end of this proposal.

## Code4rena

Upon completion of our smart contracts, we held a [public audit contest](https://code4rena.com/contests/2022-12-forgeries-contest) with Code4rena whereby we provided a prize pool of 36,500 USDC (plus admin). Since then we've implemented patches for the vulnerabilities, made recommended improvements and have been applying the finishing touches before deploying to mainnet. All of the code is open source and can be found in [this GitHub repository](https://github.com/0xigami/forgeries-contracts). All prizes have been awarded to all [77 eligible auditors](https://code4rena.com/contests/2022-12-forgeries-contest) and we're very pleased with the thoroughly scrutiny and attention to detail.

## Omega DAO

In the best interest of longevity, scalability and accessibility, we've decided it best to establish a nounish DAO to steward the OMEGA protocol and associated releases. In the Greek numeric system, Omega has the value of 800, so we've reflected that in the our auction configuration:

Omega is also used commonly in English to mean "the last of any series" and that drew our attention to the participants met with a "game over" message. We'd like to incentivise the formation of a new community we're code naming "Nomega DAO" in order to provide utility to those who don't walk away with a win:

Thanks to Federation, holders of each NFT collection we reference for our games will be able to participate in Omega DAO governance. Equal to the founder reward, they will have a permenent 10% allocation of voting rights. Builder DAO will also receive an allocation of 5% to show our gratitude.

We've also accounted for Builder DAO members to further show our gratitude, through presale allowlist inclusion, an airdrop allocation, and a portion of mint proceeds using 0xSplits.

We want to keep building on top of OMEGA and deploy new games with the Builder DAO community. For new releases, we are considering more fun ways to engage collectors and participants with games incorporating unique auction mechanics, tournaments like Squid Game and so on.
