# Setting Up A HIVE/ONEUP Account

## Step 1: Create a HIVE account:

A selection of free (verification) and paid (no verification) options to create a HIVE accounts can be found here:

It is possible that all free services are out of account creation tokens. In that case you have to pay for a new account or wait until a little bit and try later.

Make sure you __safely store ALL your HIVE keys__. HIVE has multiple security layers and hence you get 5 keys altogether, the Master Password, Owner Key, Active Key, Posting Key and Memo Key. ## Step 2: Install HIVE Keychain

There are multiple ways to log into the different HIVE applications. The most popular choice is Keychain, which works very similar to MetaMask. You can store your keys encrypted in your browser and sign transactions via Keychain.

HIVE Keychain is available for Firefox, Chrome and Brave, as well as a mobile app for Android and iOS.

After you installed the browser plugin you need to add your new account to it. Click on the Hamburger-shaped menu icon in the top right to open the settings and select "add account" and then "use keys/PWD". On the following screen you can enter yur username and your private key(s). I suggest using the Master Password there, so that Keychain will automatically grab the associated posting, active and memo key automatically (Keychain will not safe the Master Password).

Anytime you log into a HIVE app, like Hive.blog, Peakd, 1UP, Splinterlands, Tribaldex, LeoDex and so on, you will be asked by Keychain if you want to allow the app to read your wallet data. Each time you interact with the app, you will also need to sign a Keychain transaction.

## Step 3: Send your HIVE account name to IJ, Dave, Kevin or Florian.

In order for us to issue you your ONEUP tokens, we need your address. On HIVE, all addresses are simply the usernames. Send your username to one of the 1UP founders.

## Step 4: Power Up some HIVE (OPTIONAL)
_This is not required for staking ONEUP and delegating to our curation service, as you have a few free daily transactions on HIVE._
In order to interact with any HIVE applications you need to pay Ressource Credits (RC). You get RCs by powering up (staking) HIVE into HIVE Power. RCs recharge automatically by 20% per day. If you power up 10-20 HIVE you should have enough to manually curate content every day, meaning doing some upvotes and comments. You can power up and down in any HIVE wallet, my favorite frontend/wallet being Peakd.com.

## Step 5: Power Up ONEUP

After you received your ONEUPs, you have the option to power it up as well. This can be done either on our own frontend/wallet on https://www.1up.zone/, or in one of the Hive-Engine wallets, like [Tribaldex](https://tribaldex.com/wallet/) or [LeoDex](https://leodex.io/wallet) (ONEUP is a second layer Hive-Engine token).

__Make sure to stake on your OWN account__.

By powering up ONEUP (or HIVE) you get voting power for that specific token. That means you can upvote posts and assign a certain amount of freshly minted tokens out of the reward pool to the upvoted user.

Both HIVE and ONEUP have a 50/50 reward share, which means the value of each upvote is shared between the author and the upvoter (curator) in equal parts. Payout happens seven days after post (or comment) creation and automatically goes into the authors and your wallet.

Powered up ONEUP will take 4 weeks to power down, with 1/4th paid out weekly.

## Step 6: Create/Curate 1UP content
All posts that are posted to HIVE via any frontend, are also visible on any other HIVE app (except it filters out certain content). If you post on Peakd.com but use the #oneup tag, your content will also appear on 1up.zone and vice versa. But if a post is not using any of the tags we are "listening" to on the blockchain, then a post from Peakd.com would NOT appear on 1UP.zone. This way we can show only gaming and NFT content on our own frontend.

* #splinterlands

We are also pulling all posts from the following two gaming communities on HIVE:

* Axie Buzz: https://peakd.com/c/hive-143402/created

We have our own HIVE community on https://peakd.com/c/hive-102223/created and all posts done on 1UP.zone are automatically entered into that community and vice versa as well.

Therefore it is possible to post and upvote directly from our own frontend on 1up.zone or do the same via Peakd.com, hive.blog, Essency or any of the other many frontends and apps for HIVE.

Voting can be done by clicking on the upvote button below each post. You can choose between 1-100% upvote power. Each 100% upvote will reduce your voting power by 2%. Each day you will regenerate 20% of your voting power. Hence, you have ten possible 100% upvotes each day (or for example 100x10%), in order to keep your voting power equilibrium.

## Step 7 (OPTIONAL): Delegate Your Tokens
Not everyone has time or interest to read and upvote content. We offer a curation service for 1UP, where you can delegate your powered up ONEUP tokens to (via any of the above mentioned frontends/wallets). The account already exists: @oneup-curator. This account will very soon start to upvote content and use its voting power to its full potential. All rewards will automatically be paid out daily to the delegaters, based on their delegation share. There will be a 5% operator fee deducted from each payout.

If you do not upvote yourself or use a curation service for passive revenue on your tokens, you will have opportunity costs. Inflation is set high to put ONEUP into many hands and you will miss your chance to grow your stake and/or make some revenue from your investment.

## Step 8 (OPTIONAL): Join 1UP on Discord
