# [To Fabric]
Hey everyone! We wanted to announce a major update with Fabric: We will soon be renaming to “Fluent UI” to consolidate our component library efforts across M365.
Here's what's happening:
**1. The repo is moving.** `officedev/office-ui-fabric-react` repo will move to `microsoft/fluentui`. (Tentatively March 13)
**2. The packages will be published under 2 names.** `office-ui-fabric-react` will still be published, but also aliased under the name `@fluentui/react@7.x.x`.
**3. Code from fluent-ui-react has moved into the repo.** This will be published as `@fluentui/react@0.x.x`.
**4. We will be converging our v0 and v7 code over multiple major releases.** Fabric is not being replaced with a new library; we will continue iterating v7 to bring v0 features online in a way that is least frictiony for our customers.
**5. The teams channel is moving.** We will be creating a new teams chat and redirecting members there.
Both the repo move and package republishing should not impact you. Fabric packages will still be published as is, we'll still be managing issues and PRs, and we'll continue to evolve the library.
If you hit any issues with the repo move, please let us (dzearing or pagildea) know through chat.
If you'd like to read more, please see our [engineering plan deck][engdeck] or our [team charter deck][charterdeck].
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or contact PaGildea/MMielke/DZearing

# [To Teams]
Hey everyone! We wanted to announce a major update with Fluent UI. We are merging Fabric and “Fluent UI” into a single effort to consolidate our component library efforts across M365.
Here's what's happening:
1. There will soon be one repo called `microsoft/fluentui` which will contain all Fabric and Fluent UI (Stardust) components. (Tentatively March 13)
2. `@fluentui` Packages will continue to published as-is, for now. In the future Teams will consume a `@fluentui/react-teams` package.
3. Code from fluent-ui-react has moved into `OfficeDev/office-ui-fabric-react`. This is a short term step while the Fabric repo also goes through rebranding to "Fluent UI".
4. We will be converging our UI code over multiple major releases. The result will be more interop and consistency between Fluent UI (Stardust) and Fabric interfaces as well as smaller and faster apps.
5. The teams channel is moving. We will be creating a new teams chat and redirecting members there.
Both the repo move and package republishing should not impact you. Fluent UI (Stardust) packages will still be published as is, we’ll still be managing issues and PRs, and we’ll continue to evolve the library. Just from a new location with more friends helping.
If you hit any issues with the repo move, please let us (myself or @Paul Gildea) know through chat.
If you’d like to read more, please see our engineering plan deck or our team charter deck.
If you have any questions, feel free to ask here or contact Paul Gildea, Markus Mielke, David Zearing or myself!
