# Fedora DEI Team Vision & Mission Statements (DRAFT)
## Fedora Project Vision
*The Fedora Project envisions a world where everyone benefits from free and open source software built by inclusive, welcoming, and open-minded communities.*
As a project, we want everyone to live in a universe of free and open source software; the user should be in control of their computing. But it’s not enough that the software is there, waiting to be used. It has to be accessible and usable. This vision also reflects our community approach — the Friends foundation. Fedora isn’t bits and bytes. Fedora is our people, and we want the statement to include our vision of a healthy community.
## Fedora Project Mission
*Fedora creates an innovative platform for hardware, clouds, and containers that enables software developers and community members to build tailored solutions for their users.*
At the operating system level, we don’t just integrate. We do new things — we build a platform, not just a distribution. The Features and First foundations drive us to innovate. We do all of this as a transparent, collaborative community of Friends, and entirely as open source and free software — Freedom.
## DEI Team Vision (draft)
### Version 1
> Our vision for the Fedora DEI Team is to be the driving force behind a Fedora community that embraces and celebrates diversity, equity, and inclusion at its core. We aim to make Fedora a welcoming, diverse, and inclusive community where everyone feels valued, respected, and empowered to contribute. To achieve this vision, we concentrate on organizing inclusive events and supporting DEI communities within Fedora.
### Version 2
> The Fedora community empowers contributors from diverse backgrounds to speak up, participate, and lead. The DEI Team supports Fedora contributors in making inclusive spaces, both as active contributors including others or as new contributors making their start in the Fedora community.
## DEI Team Mission (draft)
### Version 1
> The Fedora DEI Team's mission is to champion diversity, equity, and inclusion within our community.
>
> We achieve this by organizing events, such as Fedora Week of Diversity, Fedora Appreciation Week, and the Fedora Mentor Summit, prioritizing events as a means to advance our mission. Additionally, we consider it a top priority to provide support and enablement to DEI communities in Fedora, including Fedora Pride and the Fedora Accessibility Group, fostering collaboration among these groups to collectively achieve our mission. Our overarching goal is to cultivate a welcoming environment where every contributor feels valued, respected, and empowered to participate.
### Version 2
> The Fedora DEI Team empowers diverse Fedora contributors by organizing events that celebrate Fedora community members and by partnering with DEI communities in Fedora to sustain safe and inclusive spaces for connections. Through events and DEI communities in Fedora, the Fedora DEI Team is also a bridge to other open source communities and the larger FOSS ecosystem.
