# Fedora Badges Design Internship: Lessons Learned
## All Categories:
* Where a character or design touches the edge of the template, avoid using the same color for character bodies/clothing/props as the template outline. - Roland (this could be worded more clearly) **[TODO: provide examples]**
* Ensure that there's adequate contrast between sky backgrounds and the foreground. **[TODO: provide examples]**
* To keep designs visually centered wherever possible, may require the design to be physically off-centered. Try to avoid making this too obvious by keeping related design elements close together(?) [**Can be worded more clearly, I think?**] [**TODO: Add an example**]
* Inconsistency in the outermost strokes is a common problem in older pandas. Be sure to check for this when making artworks with them.
* Avoid having design elements be too close together without actually touching, or (alternately) having adequate spacing.
## Category Specific:
### Community
* Avoid using medium-blue backgrounds against the pink outline, since this can cause an issue with color 'vibration'.

### Development
* Try to avoid overuse of orange within the design unless adequate contrast can be provided, since it can all blend together more easily.
### Events
* If there are custom fonts used for the official event artwork, ensure that the same fonts are used in the badge design.
* Since there are more design badges than in other categories, it helps to reuse artwork wherever possible, for example, for different, but related events [**This one might be a bit obvious, so we can take it out if it's not as useful of a takeaway**].

### Quality
* When creating a design, check for color vibrations at the top left corner of the template. If any exist, lighten that edge with a gradient or lighten the background color overall. [Reference Badge : Missed The Train]
