What is the Community Outreach Knowledge Base?

We are working on a knowledge base for Fedora community outreach as part of the Community Outreach Revamp Objective. This set of resources will cover everything from team descriptions, to role handbooks, to an appendix.

The Knowledge Base will land on the CommOps Docs page. The CommOps sections that exist now can/should be redone or reviewed.

What is this doc?

This document is an overview of the new knowledge base we are putting together for the Community Outreach Revamp. It will track progress on what is available to help out with, what is in progress, and what is complete. If you are contributing to this effort, please put your name next to the section(s) you are working on and provide updates on any progress.

What needs to be done?

  1. Writing/updating documentation.
  2. Reviewing drafts of new documentation.
  3. Pushing the new documentation to Docs page
  4. Wiki pages need to be marked as retired with links to their corresponding Docs Page.

CommOps The Fedora community consists of members from a wide variety of backgrounds, people from any number of different domains who possess varying levels of experience and technical proficiencies. Fedora needs to be aligned with how technology, rights, equality, diversity, and freedom advocacy are being undertaken across our project and community. Fedora CommOps will be an umbrella organization to unite our community outreach efforts. Fedora Join, Advocates, Ambassadors, Ambassador Emeritus will all fall under the umbrella of the CommOps team to ensure they receive the support they need. This will vary team to team. Published - https://docs.fedoraproject.org/en-US/commops/teams/commops/ [BEGINNING OF AMBASSADORS TEAM OVERVIEW] Ambassadors Fedora Ambassadors are representatives of the Fedora Project. Ambassadors ensure the public understand Fedora Project's principles and the community's work. Additionally, Ambassadors are responsible for helping to grow the contributor base and to act as a liaison between other FLOSS projects and the Fedora community. You can still represent Fedora in public without being an Ambassador. In this case, you are a Fedora Advocate. (link to Advocates' docs) Ambassadors give a face and a name to Fedora. Fedora can be big and scary, but Ambassadors will help make sure that one person finds their way through all the confusion into the place where they can contribute.
