From [The State of the Tech Market in 2023](https://newsletter.pragmaticengineer.com/p/the-state-of-the-tech-market-in-2023) ---- So, there are early signs that the market is recovering. --- Meanwhile... --- What are we doing about it? ----  ----  ----  ---- ## What can you do about it? ---- Keep coming to Saturday school (if you can) ---- Start building your personal brand - Portfolio website - Video tutorials for beginners ---- Work your own personal networks. ---- Look for apprenticeships and entry-level jobs outside our network. --- We are still pursuing apprenticeships on your behalf and we are aiming to add more opportunities in the coming weeks. --- ## Apprenticeship applications --- From Week 8, we will start inviting employers to join us for a Q&A session. --- After the Q&A session, the employer will set you some initial non-technical screening questions and a take-home challenge. After submitting the responses, the employer may invite you to interview. --- Interviews will take place in the final month of the programme (and beyond). --- After interviews, the employer may make one or more apprenticeship offers. You are under no obligation to accept an offer. --- If you accept an offer, your apprenticeship will officially begin in September with a 12-week full-time training programme. --- If you do not receive an apprenticeship offer, you can apply to continue on the programme on an unapprenticed basis. --- ## The apprenticeship --- The apprenticeship typically lasts for 15-18 months with the majority of the training taking place in the first 12 weeks. --- The apprenticeship is completed after you successfully pass your end-point assessment. This requires you to submit a portfolio and project report, for which we will provide support in the latter months of the apprenticeship. --- Our recommendation to employers is for your starting salary as an apprentice to be £18,000 while you are on the full-time training, rising to £24,000 after 3 months. --- We also recommend to employers that they review your salary periodically throughout the apprenticeship. --- ### The apprenticeship handbook --- https://foundersandcoders.notion.site/Apprenticeship-handbook-1f864f0bca344b65bc22c23953c9e5da --- Questions?
