### Case study: Embracing diversity
---
Our Community lead was our first new hire in October 2022. Sarah's brief was to increase engagement from under-represented groups, starting with women.
---
Under Sarah's management, attendance at our weekly coding meetups has grown from an average of 15 to 28 people.
---
Meanwhile, the number of women on our Software Foundation has gone from only 2 in January to 8 in May.
---
Despite all other competing priorities, embracing diversity was our top priority when we started the current hiring cycle.
---
Since Sarah joined us, we have averaged one new hire per month.
---
And there is still penty to do.
