Unacceptable. --- > The GitHub profile: "I wonder how useful a really in depth readme would be to an employer when they have many other ways to look at who we are" --- In short, it matters. --- When applying for apprentice roles, employers will receive three pieces of evidence from you: 1. Your answers to their screening questions; 2. Your response to their take-home technical challenge; 3. Your GitHub profile. --- Your GitHub profile need not be in-depth, but it better be good. It will be acting as your CV. (although some employers will ask for a CV, too) --- > "Can we set professional preparation (linkedin, github etc) as homework and create a stronger focus on the more technical stuff in class" --- Profile and CV prepation does make up a part of this programme. Most of the work you do will be outside the classroom, but we will be doing some peer-led review in class time. --- Don't underestimate the importance of how you present yourself. The way you come across to employers matters every bit as much as your technical prowess, particularly at this stage in your career. --- ## Workshop review --- - Asynchronous JS workshop https://learn.foundersandcoders.com/workshops/functions-callbacks-async/ - Promises & fetch workshop https://learn.foundersandcoders.com/workshops/learn-fetch/ --- - Go through each workshop in turn - Be mindful to share the space - Take it in turns to ask questions or respond - If anyone is being quiet, bring them into the conversation --- 40 minutes --- ## Workshops Q&A --- Break --- ## LinkedIn --- Three groups - Take it in turns to screenshare your profiles - 3-4 minutes each - Each take one learning from the others' profiles - Prepare to present your learnings to the class --- 15 minutes --- #### LinkedIn learnings --- ## ...the rest --- ## Two more workshops --- - Real-world fetch workshop https://learn.foundersandcoders.com/workshops/real-world-fetch/ - Promise practice https://learn.foundersandcoders.com/workshops/promise-practice/ --- ## Next time - Workshop review - The next project --- ## Employer Q&As Reminder: the first Q&A is 5 weeks away.
