## Medical
- ATC: [Anatomical Therapeutic Chemical]((https://www.who.int/tools/atc-ddd-toolkit/atc-classification)) code. ATC is a unique code assigned to a medicine according to the organ or system it works on and how it works. The classification system is maintained by the World Health Organization (WHO).
- BNF: British National Formulary. The BNF is a reference book containing the standard list of medicines used in UK prescribing.
- BNF/Snomed: The BNF/Snomed mapping file published by the NHS Business Services Authority (NHSBSA) represents the mappign of BNF codes to Dictionary of Medicines and Devices (dm+d) Snomed codes
- CPRD: [Clinical Research Practice Datalink](https://cprd.com) (database used by most consortia in AIM)
- CPRD GOLD: Data contributed using the Vision software
- dm+d: [dictionary of medicines and devices](https://www.nhsbsa.nhs.uk/pharmacies-gp-practices-and-appliance-contractors/dictionary-medicines-and-devices-dmd) from the NHS
- ELSA: [English Longitudinal Study of Aging ](https://www.elsa-project.ac.uk)(database used by one consortium in AIM)
- NIHR: National Institute for Health and Care Research (project funder)
- OMOP CDM: [Observational Medical Observations Partnership Common Data Model](https://www.ohdsi.org/data-standardization/the-common-data-model/). The OMOP CDM provides a standardised data model and terminology that can be used for research across healthcare providers and regions. UCL has [mapped the UK Biobank onto the OMOP CDM](https://www.thehyve.nl/cases/mapping-uk-biobank-to-omop-using-delphyne).
- PPIE: Patient and Public Involvement and Engagement
- SAIL: [Secure Anonymised Information Linkage]((https://saildatabank.com/about-us/overview/)). SAIL is a database and trusted research environment used by some consortia in AIM.

- TREs: Trusted Research Environments
- UK-SeRP: UK Secure E-Research Platform. Hosted by Swansea University, it is "cloud-ready", provider-neutral, and rapidly scalable to support intensive analytical tasks.
