Gone with that Then!

I had to update Java this morning and I was in a rush. I just accessed the first page of this wizard but I didn't pay much to. Then I remembered that it was installing the Ask.com application. Pnp89's blog Grrr.

(Here's an image I took a while ago)

I could have cancelled it but I ploughed on. After the installation there was no indication that the extension had been installed. Chrome reported that the extension "Search App By Ask Version 2" was installed when I restarted Chrome.

I checked my search engine settings and found that I was not able to enable it. The website ask.com was added but it was not set as the default search engine. That was it!

I'm not happy that Oracle included an application for browsers during the Java runtime installation. I'm wondering how many children who have installed Java to play Minecraft have this toolbar now?
