# /ETC Code of Conduct
/ETC is a gathering of intersectional, anti-imperialist, anti-colonial, feminists who critically use/study/share/improve everyday information technologies in the context of the free software and open hardware movements. We have a queer feminist approach that expands the hack meetings reflection on politics with an intersectionalist point of view.
This code of conduct applies to all of our events and online spaces, including any parties and gatherings at other venues related to any of our initiatives.
We strongly believe that an empowering event is one in which everyone actively contributes to its realization. In this way, the process of the event is just as important as the output. The orga team is also committed to upholding this code of conduct and reflecting on our own structures and behaviours, both individually and collectively.
We want everyone at /ETC to feel as comfortable and safe as possible so that they can fully experience the event and community. There is no such thing as a safe space. We cannot guarantee painless, conflict-free, trauma-free spaces, but we can try to address conflict and work towards a safer space.
We are committed to supporting and empowering the most vulnerable, with our approach focused on mutual respect and enhancing collaboration and trust among participants.
The following guidelines are our common ground(s). Please take the time to read these points.
### Our common ground(s):
/ETC is a FLINTA*-only queer feminist event. FLINTA stands for Female, Lesbian, Intersex, Nonbinary, Trans and Agender. This explicitely includes all trans-masculinities and trans-feminities. It does not include anyone who self-identifies as a cis-man. We will not tolerate gender policing or transphobia of any kind!
We are committed to co-creating an inclusive and collaborative environment for all /ETC participants, regardless of their gender, gender expression, race, ethnicity, religion, sexual orientation, sexual characteristics, physical appearance, abilities, or age.
/ETC aims to connect people on-site. Please save memories in your head. Respect the privacy and safety of others! Do not record any /ETC activities: photography, video, audio or any other kind of recording is not allowed inside the venue. When taking pictures outside the venue, please make sure that only people who consent to pictures are included.
We are all doing the best we can - we still might make mistakes. Sometimes humour can be healing and compassion is priceless. So let's be our most excellent fabulous selves!
Consent, consent, consent. Do not assume. Ask. Look for the presence of an enthusiastic "yes" rather than the absence of a "no."
### We are striving towards a space (online or in person) free from:
Verbal comments that reinforce oppression related to gender, gender identity and expression, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, ethnicity, spoken language, age or religion (or lack thereof).
This includes but is not limited to: anti-muslim racism, anti-black racism, antisemitism, racism against Rom:nja und Sinti:zze, anti-sclavic racism, anti-asian racism, anti-latin-x racism and other forms of racism.
Non-consensual physical contact or sexual attention such as grabbing hair, butts, breasts or laptops. Unless there is enthusiastic consent, please keep your hands to yourself.
Intimidation or bullying, including the sustained disruption of session or events or repeatedly dominating discussions.
Stalking, harassing photography or recording.
National flags or symbols. This does not include symbols in support of any resistance to occupation or colonization.
