# Welcome to this year's programs
### *“[T]he most radical thing that we can be doing is just relating to the land and experiencing joy on the land.”* Dr. Clint Carrol (2021)
## Introduction
:::success
If you feel called to relate to medicinal plants in the Sikoohkotokoki/ Lethbridge bioregion and experience joy in this communion, come join us.
As you can see in the **menu of education options on the top left** (click on Expand menu), some offerings will run over the course of a few months in the upcoming green(er) season. Others will explore individual topics on separate occasions.
The programming is rooted in principles of gratitude, respect and reciprocity. I recognise the personhood of all beings and the land, and I hope you (will) do so too.
**Pre-requisite: curiosity and love for learning about plants and yourself.**

## Intention
The intention for this year's educational herbalism programming is to achieve better balance in our bioregion and our communities through the creation of welcoming learning spaces, where you can meet with other plant lovers and we can invite you to amplify our herbally inspired relationship-building and sharing.
Together, we can walk forward on a good path and gently encourage each other to learn how to listen and hear for ourselves this mysterious language of roots, leaves and flowers. With warmth and curiosity, and within an environment of true community, we will develop our own herbal medicine goals by forging direct relationships to the more-than-human world. A growing self-awareness, cultural competence, equity literacy, and reflection on socio-political positionality are part of this empowerment journey.
While the programs offers personalised ways to unlock deep memory of ancestral lands, story and plants, you will also get to visit with the local environment, hear some of the local stories and gain insights into the use of local herbs in home kitchens and/ or apothecaries.
