# Nouns DAO Split (a version of ragequit) Urgency Signaling ## Vote options (not part of the description; these are the vote options on Snapshot) A **choice rank vote** with the following: 1. Urgent & important: build right away; pause all WIP projects other than private voting. 2. Not urgent but important: do it once WIP projects are nearly done. 4. Don't build it at all. ## Intro On December 20th we (verbs) hosted [a ragequit discussion](https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1kvJpmlRkrPxE?s=20) on TNS's twitter account. The main sentiment we gathered from that discussion was: (1) the risks are concerning, let's not rush into it; and (2) it doesn't feel urgent, we could be doing other things in the short term. Since then we've continued working with the foundation and its lawyers towards a safer design, one that would achieve the following goals: 1. Provide a last-resort defense against a majority attack (aka 51% attack). 2. Mitigate legal and cultural risks. We've believe [this DAO split design](https://hackmd.io/jctHoCh0STORZGyJIQKpMA?view) is the best form of ragequit for Nouns DAO, and while it's still being discussed with the legal team, we're optimistic it'll prove sufficiently safe for the DAO to deploy. **If you have a better design in mind, please reach out to us ASAP**, [@eladmallel](https://twitter.com/eladmallel) or [@davidbrai](https://twitter.com/davidbrai) on twitter. Given recent events, including an attempt [to deploy a simple ragequit mechanism](https://nouns.wtf/vote/248), we thought it's a good time to make sure everyone's aware of where we stand, and to ask for a signal from the DAO: How urgent is it? ## Our current project sequence A potential outcome of this vote is to change the order of our project execution; so it seems prudent to first share our current state, from currenly active projects, to what's coming next (the higher up the list, the sooner it is or will happen): 1. [Done] [ETH Denver talk](https://youtu.be/rw_GU6Gs81o) We decided to talk at the conference to raise awareness of all the open source code we have created other DAOs can benefit from, and connect with other DAO designers to accelerate ours and others' progress on this frontier. 2. [WIP] [DAO V3](https://hackmd.io/Ml1kPUePTKS1vBKij_Bm1A) Smart contract coding is mostly done; up next: lots of testing, nouns.wtf UI changes (by ripe), an audit, and finally the proposal to upgrade the DAO. 3. [WIP] [Private voting](https://prop.house/nouns/private-voting-research-sprint) We met a bunch of teams ahead of their submissions, and now reviewing all 20 proposals in depth to help the DAO make the best decision; post-funding we'll be working closely with the winners to make the most of their time with us. 4. [WIP] Swap stETH to rETH A short project with a proposal coming soon, to do our first swap using Cowswap's milkman contract, hopefully paving the way for more swaps to come. 5. [WIP] [Auction House V2](https://github.com/nounsDAO/nouns-monorepo/pull/598) We coded this one up a while ago, and paused it to better understand the airdrops feature design, to make sure any changes it required made it into the audit. We will soon run a bunch of tests on this change and get it audited and proposed to the DAO. 6. [Not started] DAO-owned multisigs In line with our goal of minimizing trust and coordination, the DAO should be able to execute txs on multisigs. A recent example was updating NAC's Nouns' delegation, and other examples can include the decision to close a pod and send its funds back to the treasury. 7. [Not started] Proposal simulations Present proposers with a simulation of their proposal's txs *before* they put their proposal on chain. 8. [Designed, not started] [DAO split](https://hackmd.io/jctHoCh0STORZGyJIQKpMA?view) (formerly known as ragequit). 9. [Not started] [Airdrops](https://snapshot.org/#/nouns.eth/proposal/0xebe4aec5b96dc5c008902da341bcd4936f5aa09baf73daaa545259183b203089) Integrate wiz's autobidder, or build a new Nouns Buyer contract. ## The vote We are asking for your help in understanding how urgent is DAO split to the DAO? This is a **choice rank vote**: please choose all options in order of your preference (i.e. click your favorite first and so on). Thank you! verbs ⌐◨-◨ ## Duration (also not in the description) Start: March 9, 5pm EST. End: March 20, 5pm EST.
