# BOLT🔩FUN: Topics
Topics, previously know as "Tags" are popular discussion items that have their own exclusive pages for related, or topical articles, stories, and questions.
Topics also allow us to create incentivised reading material, content, and discussion around areas of design and development that are catching the public eye (e.g Nostr). They also allow us to create an MVP version of our "sub-communities" features, circulatig popular companies and projects such as Lightning Labs, Nostr, LSPs, and so on.

🎛
**Short description**
Lightning over the web!
**Long description**
LNURL is a stack of simple protocols for coordinating information needed to make payments over the Lightning Network using HTTP. The full list of LNURL protocol pieces can be found [here](https://github.com/fiatjaf/lnurl-rfc). The 3 main components of the LNURL spec are authentication, invoice request, and withdrawal request schemes.

## #Nostr
**Emoji**
🛰
**Short description**
Are you designing or developing decentralised social networks?
**Long description**
The simplest open protocol that is able to create a censorship-resistant global "social" network once and for all. It doesn't rely on any trusted central server, hence it is resilient; it is based on cryptographic keys and signatures, so it is tamperproof; it does not rely on P2P techniques, therefore it works.

## #LNC-web
**Emoji**
📡
**Short description**
Connect your node to web apps with LNC-web.
**Long description**
Lightning Node Connect (LNC) is a protocol that allows a node operator to safely and easily connect to a web or mobile application. LNC does not require the node to expose any ports. Instead, the application and the node are connected through a proxy server called the mailbox. The connection between node and application are end-to-end encrypted.

## #LSATs
**Emoji**
🪙
**Short description**
Electric authentication tokens.
**Long description**
Lightning Service Authentication Tokens cleverly combine the capabilities of macaroons with that of a Lightning payment, making it easy to charge satoshis for API requests.
LSAT is a new standard to support the use case of charging for services and authenticating users in distributed networks. It combines the strengths of Macaroons for better authentication with the strengths of the Lightning Network for better payments.
Aperture is an implementation of this standard. It functions as a reverse HTTP proxy with support for gRPC and REST requests. It allows the safe and efficient creation of paid APIs that separate the logic of payments, permissioning and fulfilling requests. Aperture is used today by Lightning and , a non-custodial swap service for Bitcoin.

## #Taro
**Emoji**
🍠
**Short description**
Bitcoin assets are here.
**Long description**
Taro is a new Taproot-powered protocol for issuing assets on the bitcoin blockchain that can be transferred over the Lightning Network for instant, high volume, low fee transactions. At its core, Taro taps into the security and stability of the bitcoin network and the speed, scalability, and low fees of Lightning.

## #BOLTs
**Emoji**
🔩
**Short description**
Specifications on the Lightning protocol.
**Long description**
The Basis of Lightning Technology (BOLT) are specifications that describe the consensus rules and standards of the Lightning Network. The standards established by the BOLTs allow different Lightning implementations such as LND and c-lightning to integrate and form a network. As the Lightning Network continues to develop, the BOLTs are adapted and improved.

## #LSPs
**Emoji**
🌊
**Short description**
Lightning Service Providers
**Long description**
A Lightning Service Provider (LSP) is an entity providing liquidity services on the Lightning Network on behalf of others. Channels in the Lightning Network are naturally constrained by their size, and capacity is further limited by local and remote balances.

**Short description**
Building a lightning application on the web?
**Long description**
WebLN is a set of specifications for Lightning apps and client providers to facilitate communication between web apps and users' Lightning nodes in a secure way. It provides a programmatic, permissioned interface for letting applications ask users to send payments, generate invoices to receive payments, and much more.
