Tezos in Taiwan - the recap

Abstract

There are several exposures and opportunaties for both of Tezos and Marigold. Lots of them were happened so fast and some scope seems big so I need some discussion and help.

This recap splited into two parts:

• contacted: who contacted to me and they want to interact with Tezos and Marigold
• outreaching: organizing a Tezos contract workshop with local community

Contacted

Background

Now, mostly there are three Taiwanese entities contacted me. They can all be traced back to the same professor who is pretty much one of the biggest Tezos promoter here.

That NTU Lab is run by exactly the professor I mentioned above, and the funder/CEO of others are all his former students. The Taiwan AI Labs is in fact a fundation and a company (capital €1.000.000) focusing on AI application in smart city and medical system and music synthesis(?). And Akaswap is a Tezos NFT platform they also help and work with other local blockchiain company to "onboard" their application to Tezos.

The Tezos Taiwan is just a group of Tezos fans. It's not relating to any other companies.

NTU Lab

• what they have
  • 30-50 students; 10 students focusing on blockchain and contract (mostly Tezos)
  • already started a project of bridge on Tezos
    • currently at survey phase
    • plan to have some MVP by 6 months
• what they want to have (as far as I know)
  • a general intro of functional, Tezos, contract, etc..
  • a join work with Marigold regarding TEzos-based cross-chain stuff like bridge

Taiwan AI Labs

• what they have
  • application needs and major clients (hospital, gov, ..)
  • money
• what they want
  • understand the basic of Tezos and smart contract
  • determine the possibility of building their applicaiton with blockchain (esp Tezos)

Akaswap

• what they have
  • contract dev experiences
  • real contract use cases and needs
• what hey want
  • want to engage with other famous dev team like Marigold (in a way to show that they're no fraud :p)
  • understand layer 2 (sidechain and rollup) for their own use cases
  • considering to be a baker

What I will do and need

NTU Lab

• [Task] a meeting has been appointed on 8th Apr 2022
• [Quesiton] is Marigold interested in that bridge project? who is the one could follw up?

Taiwan AI Labs

• [Task] two meetings has been appointed on 15th Apr 2022
• [Quesiton] I have no idea what we, Marigold, want to do with them? We would want to build application for them, but if they, say, ask us to train their dev?
• [Quesiton] If they want a futher discussion, who is the one I should refer to?

Akaswap

• they will join the meeting with NTU Lab, so no furhter plan at this point

misc

• [Need] a biz card (of Marigold)
• [Need] some Tezos/Marigold swag I can give to NFT artists and other devs

I aleady know a local printing house, but to make my life easier, please help me on making design file.

Outreaching

Tezos Ligo workshop

Almost two days ago, I conducted a survey regarding possible worksop and meetup. I have got 23 responses so far and their background is as follow. (By the way I do provide the option of contract dev, but none of them is. LOL)

There are 14/23 ppl who is interested in contract dev. Considering there are still other existing contract dev in here, I think it's fair to plan a workshop for 20 ppl, if it's worth.

What I need?

• slides and tutorials, any existing materials. Ligo of course. :)
• some swag too
• bugdet for venue (no need if the community can find some local sponsor)
