Pets will only be accommodated if they are in a FAA approved kennel or carrier that fits under the seat which will allow a maximum size of 9" H x 16" W x 19" D. Soft-sided carriers are strongly recommended since pets must be comfortable while remaining in the carrier, under the seat, at all times. A kennel or carrier is included in the carry-on baggage limitations. Allegiant Air Pet Policy: Domestic Travel Allegiant Air welcomes small pets in the cabin of flights within the 48 contiguous states. This pet policy applies to domestic dogs and cats only, and your pup will need to be at least 4 months old to fly. # In-cabin travel ### Crate Requirements According to the Allegiant Air pet travel policy, the airline “strongly suggests” that you use a soft-sided leak-proof carrier that is compact enough to fit under the seat. The maximum dimensions of the pet carrier are 9” high x 16” wide x 19” deep. A limit of one carrier per person applies, as does a maximum of 2 pets per carrier. Your pup will need to remain in the carrier for the duration of the flight and while at the airport terminal, and they must not protrude from the carrier in any way. Finally, make sure there is enough room in the crate for your dog to stand up and turn around, as your pet’s comfort and safety should be your top priority. ### Health Requirements and Documentation Your dog won’t require a health certificate to fly in the cabin with you on Allegiant Air. However, your dog must not be ill or aggressive, have an odor, or show signs of physical distress. Before making a booking, it’s worth taking your pup to the vet for a check-up to make sure it’s perfectly safe for them to fly with you. Allegiant makes it clear in the terms and conditions that the airline doesn’t assume any responsibility for the health or wellbeing of pets in the airplane cabin. Check out our complete guide to traveling with a dog on a plane for more useful tips and tricks. However, it’s worth noting that different regulations apply to emotional support and psychiatric service animals. If your dog falls into one of these categories, you’ll need to provide: A pet health form completed by your veterinarian A mental health form completed by your mental health professional or medical physician An animal behavior and responsibility form completed by you These three forms must be given to an Allegiant staff member at the check-in counter at least one hour before your scheduled departure time. And if you’re traveling with a trained service animal, you’ll need to supply a pet health form completed by your veterinarian. You can submit this form to an Allegiant agent when you check in for your flight. ### Booking Procedures and Fees Please note that if you want to fly with your dog on Allegiant Air, a $100 fee applies per carrier each way for all pets. However, this fee doesn’t apply to service animals and passengers with disabilities. If you’re flying with your dog on Allegiant Air, you must check in with an Allegiant representative at least one hour before your flight is scheduled to leave. This early arrival is needed so that the airline can make sure your dog and the pet carrier you’re using both satisfy all of Allegiant’s pet travel guidelines. Please note that there are also restrictions on where you’ll be able to sit. Passengers with pets are not permitted to sit in an exit row, in a seat one row before or after an exit row, or in a seat in the bulkhead. Finally, the airline also recommends that if you need advice on how to get your dog through TSA security screening, contact the TSA directly. ### Exemptions and Other Considerations There are a few other rules and regulations you should be aware of before flying with your dog on Allegiant Air. These include a requirement that your dog must be harmless and not cause any disturbances. Your dog must also stay in the carrier at all times and can only ever be handled by you. Please note that if you don’t comply with these regulations, or any other requirements listed in the Allegiant Air pet policy, you won’t be allowed to board your flight. If you’re flying with a service, psychiatric service, or emotional support animal, your dog must remain on the floor, under the seat, or in your lap (if they weigh less than approximately 30 lbs). They must be under your control at all times and cannot protrude into the aisle. # Cargo hold travel Allegiant Air does not allow pets to travel in the cargo hold. If you’re searching for an airline that offers cargo hold travel for dogs, you’ll need to consider other options.
