# How to Reset Your Comcast Xfinity WiFi Password
Routers provided by Internet Service Providers such as Xfinity often come with really long and hard to remember WiFi passwords. You may want to change your password to make it easier for your friends and family to use your wireless connection.

**This guide will show you three ways to sign in to a Comcast Xfinity router and change your WiFi password.**

## Steps To Reset Xinfity Wifi Password
**1- Sign in to your Xfinity router**
If you've never logged into your Xfinity router, simply follow my Xfinity Router Login guide. We will summarize it here.

* Visit 10.0.0.1.
* As long as you haven't changed your credentials, you can use the admin username and password to log in.
* Go to Gateway > Connection > WiFi.
* Press EDIT next to your wireless network.
* Edit your new password. (You can also change the name of the network, if you want.)
* Click SAVE SETTINGS.
* If you ever forget your password, simply reset your Comcast Xfinity router.

**2- Using the Xfinity "My Account" App**
You can easily change your Xfinity WiFi password with the Xfinity "My Account" app.

* Make sure you have the Xfinity "My Account" app downloaded on your phone.
* Open the "My Account" application.
* Sign in with your Xfinity username and password.
* Select Internet.
* Select Wireless Gateway.
* Click Change Wi-Fi settings.
* Enter a new password.
* Click Save.

**3- With the Xfinity Online Website**
Finally, you can visit your account page on the Xfinity website to change your WiFi password.

* Go to the Xfinity "My Account" page.
* Sign in to your account with your Xfinity username and password.
* Click Settings.
* Click on the Internet.
* Click WiFi Credentials.
* Select Edit on the right side of the window.
* Enter the desired WiFi password (and the network name, if you want to change it too).
* Click Save.

After a few minutes, you should have a new updated Xfinity WiFi password! Make sure to sign in again.

## How to Change or Recover the Default Password of the XFinity Router
A wireless router connects your devices wirelessly to the Internet so you can go about your business without being stuck in one place. But as with any other modern device today, routers and Internet access need passwords to protect them from unauthorized access. Unfortunately, the most common problem with passwords is that users tend to forget them.

If you are a subscriber to Xfinity Internet service equipped with the Comcast XFinity Wireless Router and have forgotten your password, here are some options for retrieving/changing your password.

**There are several ways you can do to change your WiFi password.**

### 1. Modify password online.

Simply visit www.xfinity.com/wifipassword and follow the steps provided.

#### 2. Use the Xfinity My Account app from your mobile devices.

### 3. View your WiFi information on the X1 set-top box.

If your Internet connection plan comes with the X1 TV Box, you can simply press the Microphone button on your voice remote and say "What's my WiFi password?" and the X1 will show you the password on the screen. Or, press the Xfinity button on the remote, scroll down to the Help menu, and select Troubleshooting - WiFi. The network names and password will be displayed.

#### 4. View your WiFi information for your XFINITY Wireless Gateway

The XFINITY Wireless Gateway comes with a default WiFi network name (sometimes called an SSID) and password (sometimes called a network key). You can view the information on the side or bottom panel of the wireless gateway. But this information is invalid if you have changed your WiFi network name and password before.

#### 5. Find your WiFi information on an approved modem and router

If your Xfinity Internet service did not come with the Xfinity Wireless Gateway, you can refer to your device's owner's manual for more information on how to retrieve the default network name and password.

### Recover router password
When all fails, you can use the router to modify the network password. If you have not played with the password of the router, you can log in to the interface through a web browser.

1. First, connect to the router's network.
2. Open your Internet browser and type this address: 10.0.0.1
3. At the login screen, use the default username (admin) and default password (password) to continue.
4. Change the wifi password by clicking the "Change Password" tab at the top right of the admin panel.

If you have changed your router's password, you can reset the username and password to default by physically pressing the reset button on your router for several seconds and continuing with the steps above.
