# Mission
DXOS -- The decentralized operating system -- is an independent public organization whose mission is to provide open source technologies that allow for a free and open decentralized internet.
## Overview
DXOS.org is a decentralized global community of open source developers. The community is organized via an independent foundation (DXOS.foundation), which is funded by members of the community.
The DXOS platform consists of decentralized protocols, tools, and applications that provide an alternative to the current Web that has been overtaken by the Big Tech hegemony. DXOS enables the development of privacy-preserving applications for its users, and a fairer marketplace for open source developers.
The DXOS community consists of a number of independent decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs). DAOs may consist of individuals or teams of software developers and other professionals who are contributing to the ecosystem.
## Strategy
The primary strategic goal of the DXOS Foundation is the launch of the DXOS token to enlist an army of open source developers.
The Foundation will raise seed capital from private individuals and organizations to further develop DXOS technologies and applications, and conduct a token launch.
The foundation will sponsor a growing set of DAOs to develop and support the platform. Following a successful token launch, the foundation will focus its efforts on supporting the global DXOS community.
In the initial phase, the Foundation will organize its efforts around the following three teams.
### DXOS Protocols
- Development and support of decentralized protocols that initially include: HALO (identity), ECHO (data), and MESH (network).
- Development and support of tools (SDK, CLI, documentation and tutorials) that enable developers to create and deploy decentralized applications.
### DXOS Platform
- Development and operation of a permissionless blockchain (DXNS) that directly supports the global decentralized platform.
- Development and operation of the peer-to-peer KUBE network that provides the operational platform for DXOS applications.
### TEAMWORK
- In order to demonstrate and differentiate the capabilities of the DXOS platform, the Foundation will focus on creating a suite of applications called TEAMWORK.
- The goal of the TEAMWORK team will be to provide a commercially competitive product that offers a best-in-class user experience for an initial market segment.
- TEAMWORK will be an organizing principle of the overall platform development. The technical requirements of TEAMWORK will drive product and engineering development for the DXOS Platform and Protocols teams.
