# Testing template 1- PetBoxes :::warning ## Qualitative interview guide **Introduction** *Thanks to a partnership with the SNCF company, our project will consist in allowing pet owners to take the train with their pet by dedicating to pets a personal train car. Our application will serve to book a big box for their pet in this specific train car.* **Questions of the tester about our application** Q1: Will the pets be fed ? *Yes, the owner could bring with him/her the pet food and a SNCF staff member will feed the pet.* Q2: Will someone monitor the pets ? *Yes, one staff member will monitor them by feeding them, by circulating regularly in the pet car and watching them thanks to a camera fixed in a wall of the pet car.* Q3: Do you take category 1 dogs ? *No, the law bans their presence in public transports under penalty of fines as the presence of category 2 dogs.* **General information related to the topic** *General questions about tester's habits* Q4: Do you have a dog or a cat? And how is it ? *I have a three-year-old little dog called Miss You. She is a girl. She is very active and funny, she always does some bad things but she is very lovely.* Q5: Do you often use public transports ? *Not really, I live in the country so I'd rather take my car. I take public transports only when I have to go in big cities and it happens not very often.* Q6: When you have to transport your pet out of your home, which transport do you use (subway, train, car)? *Usually, I take my car for short and long travels, but I happened to take the train with my dog and I had any difficulties but I paid a supplement in my train ticket.* Q7: If a quality service existed for travelling your pet in a train, would you use more the train to transport your pet ? *Certainly, but it depends on the service, I want to be sure that my pet will be well treated and safe. Then, I'll prefer the car because I live in the country, so I haven't train station next to my house. But, if I were in a city with my dog, I will certainly use it because she feels more reassured when she could move and smell other dogs as in a dog kennel. **Behavior related to particular issues** *Ask him to express himself on your application, product or service. Feel free to use the prototype for this part.* Q8:Do you find our application useful for pet owners? *Yes, if this application existed, it would be useful for pet owners, especially for pet owners who travel regularly in trains and for pets owners who go on holiday.* Q9:Do you think that anyone could use it easily ? *Yes, it seems simple and nowadays everybody uses applications like this. But, I think that some persons could be embarrassed by these striking colours and some questions feel unclear. I don't understand really why we have to answer to these questions* Q10: Would you use it in your case ? *Yes, I think so but in some rare occasions.* **Constructive suggestions for improvement** *Ask him how you could improve your prototype* Q11: What could we improve in our application ? *You don't have any phone number in case of urgency whereas the pet owner needs to be reassured and to be contacted if his/her pet is sick or aggressive. If my pet has any problem, I would like to be informed of the situation. And what happens if the booking is canceled ? Let's imagine I have a meltdown and I want to cancel my booking, what I have to do ?* ::: --- :::warning ## Testcard ## Pre-testing **Name:** Jeanne Liaboeuf **Age:** 52 years **Occupation:** executive assistant **Context of the meeting (where, with who, etc.):** We were in her house, during the afternoon, in the kitchen, we were in a quiet space and we took the time needed to test the application. **Duration of the meeting:** 25 minutes ## User scenarios testing **1st instruction** (this is your first scenario): You are a dog owner and you have to bring your little dog in Lyon and you can't use your car. You need to take the train and you just discovered this application. You have to book a box by following each steps defined by the application. **Observations:** *The tester doesn't understand why she has to answer these questions. Due to this point, she feels bored by all the questions because she doesn't understand their utility. The tester seems not to appreciate some questions, she declared that these questions are weird and maybe not enough detailed.* **2nd instruction:** (this is your second scenario): You are an exigeant cat owner, very concerned about your cat's quality of life, and you need to transport your pet and you hesitate between using your car or taking the train. One of your friends has told you about this application. You have to use it. **Observations:** *The tester doesn't understand why she needs to bring her cat and thinks she prefers to let her cat in her house rather than transporting it but as the application is free, she accepts to use it. She would like to see a picture more precise about the pet train car and to choose the box for his/her pet* ## Qualitative testing **Positive feedback:** - Very simple to use - Interesting to be able to see the pet during the travel - Free application --- **Neutral feedback:** - the color mixture (green light and white) seems a little unpleasant for the eyes - An innovative concept which doesn't exist in France --- **Negative feedback:** - It misses some information for the pet owner - Some changes in the form should be made (as "do you want to see your pet" or "can she or he reproduce") because they are unclear --- **Learning & insights:** From that, we've learn that we need to add some information in our application, to think about how we'll manage any problems with the pet, to change some details for the content and the form. --- **Decisions & actions:** To iterate, we will make a FAQ page for our users where they could find some additional information. We'll change the green color in some frames. Moreover, we'll ask the phone number of the pet owner and change some details in the content of our questions. :::
