# 20200930 Criteria to consider for adding packages to FCOS

1. Can the tool be helpful in debugging container runtime issues?

2. Can the tool be used to do things we'd rather users not be able to do in FCOS?

3. Can the tool be helpful in debugging networking issues?
- If you can't get to the network you can't download a container

4. Does the tool depend on python?
- We're trying really hard to keep python out of our base image.
We'd prefer not to consider tools that bring in the python stack.

5. Can a privileged podman run (or toolbox) already do it?

6. Does the tool have a history of CVEs?

7. Is the tool and its dependencies large?
