# The Zoo of Topheilia The largest zoo in Chainspace, taking up no less than the size of an actual planet, which is run by a species of preservationists known as the **Topheil**. The planet, known as the Zoo of Topheilia (once was just Topheilia but is now synonymous with the zoo) has been collecting and harbouring numerous creatures from across the cosmos for thousands of blocks with no inclination on a creature's rarity or design. Here people can find all manner of curious creature, from the exceptionally rare to the quite common, all kept safe in this planet-sized sanctuary. ``` Who are the Topheil? The Topheil are a race of, what could be described as, gigantic insect people with cockroach like features with large manidbles and several limbs. They have an acute intelligence, which is often persuaded by their proclivity for survival. They once held the universe's only paradise in the click of their mandibles. Unfortunately, wars and major conflicts on the planet, reduced Topheilia to a near ruin and almost brough the Topheil themselves to near destruction. The survivors swore to rebuild their home and turn it back into a paradise. They terraformed the planet with their impressive technology and went out in search of endangered things to populate it with. This began a long habit of collecting creatures from across the cosmos to harbour in safety, using their technology to recreate the topographical features of the creature's homes. ``` - - - ### Who can visit this zoo of curiosities? Anyone is welcome to the Zoo of Topheilia, especially those that have an interest in seeing a specific creature from across the stars. Unfortunately though, these creatures are kept under fierce guard by the Topheil, who protect them like their own young from people who would seek to steal or otherwise vandalise the creatures. Those who have come seeking such criminal activities are often imprisoned deep within Topheil for a period of blocks determined by the *Keepers of Topheilia.* - - - ### Who rules the Zoo of Topheilia? The **Keepers of Topheilia** are the running law of the world. They are a small council of wise elders that have lived since the days of Topheilia's final war. They were the ones that raised new young and terraformed the planet again, and they were also the ones that set the Topheil on this new path of preservation. There are two thousand which sit upon this council and it is presided over by a smaller group of eight known as **The Wisest**, who have final say in most decisions. - - - ### Are the creatures free? The Topheil watch over the creatures as stalward guardians with extreme reverence. The creatures are given suitable lives without fences and free roam, within boundaries, across the face of Topheilia. Those more powerful creatures, that can come and go as they like, often do so and return to the kindness of the Topheil who have become masters of animal handling. - - - # The Bestiary of Topheilia Below you can find a record of every creature that can be found inside of the Zoo of Topheilia. ### A. - - - #### Alethoscarabs *Contributed by Zeke* ``` Altheoscarabs are small beetles often found in the dry lands, when injested, they produce a euphoric reaction as well as preventing the consumer from being able to lie. ``` ##### What are Alethoscarabs? Also known as “Blockshit Beetles”, these fist-sized creatures have an iridescent black shell with six legs and long whippy antennea. The female version has wings and spends most of it’s time high in the clouds, only coming down to mate. ##### Where can these creatures be found? The are found in dry flatlands, near large herbivores where the male aletholoscarab will make giant towers from the dung of large herbivores. Once their dung tower is complete, they will climb to the top and emit a low flatulent humming sound to attract a mate. The alethoscarab with the tallest dung tower will mate with thousands of female alethoscarabs who will descend from the clouds, and reluctantly mate with their male counterparts. ##### What abilities does the Alethoscarab possess? Consuming the alethoscarabs will cause massive euphoria and an inability to lie. It is recommended to consume these “blockshit beetles” alone or with people you trust. ##### How rare is an Alethoscarab? They are common in their native habitat, but quite rare and valuable for their beautiful shells and as mind-altering drug. The drug is favored among certain ancient cults. - - - #### Amphisbaena *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` An amphibious creature resembling a lizard with two heads, one at the top and one in the tail. It uses the tail-end for feeding. Quite poisonous. ``` ##### What do they look like? The Amphisbaena is a sleek, medium sized amphibian with four legs and a long tail. At the end of its tail there is a secondary head which the Amphisbaena uses for feeding and to scout its surroundings for potential predators. Its skin is coated in a slimey substance that keeps it cool even in the most elevated temperatures. It has been sighted in multiple color variations, including bright orange, green, blue, and yellow. ##### Where do they come from? The Amphisbaena is native to Pepepolis and can be found in multiple biomes, including swamps, estuaries and marshlands. It is fond of dark, damp places and thrives in humid areas. ##### What unusual talents or abilities do they have? The Amphisbaena are poisonous to other creatures, however it depends on the size of the affected creature. A mature Pepel will experience intense pain in the area inflicted with the poison, but will not die upon contact, as the poison is only deadly in very large quantities. The poison is kept in small sacks close to the surface of its skin which, when in danger, is released and mixed with the slimey substance which the Amphisbaena uses to coat its body. ##### How rare is the creature? Amphisbaena are commonly found in wetlands and humid areas of the world. They are not exceedingly rare, but will keep out of the way of most predators and creatures bigger than themselves. They are not aggresive and will try to avoid conflict, but if threatened, they will coat themselves with poison without hesitation. - - - #### Australopillzecus *Contributed by Brian* ``` Considered to be the first example in the blochaeological record of epistemological degeneration. Also referred to as The Missing Link, Australopillzecus devolved from creatures that spent their lives swinging from the hierarchical branches of nonlinear structures. It is the first example of a creature to descend from the data trees and utter the koan, "You think, therefore I... wen?" ``` <span style="color: red;">*Needs more information, creature relatively unknown.* </span> - - - #### Axxallaxxa *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` A floating head that resembles a cat's skull, the Axxallaxxa is a dangerous creature that is known for its ability to feast upon time. ``` ##### What does the Axxallaxxa look like? The Axxallaxxa is nothing more than a floating skull, in most ways it resembles a cat with three watchful eyes that emit a pale yellow glow when they meet the gaze of strangers. The Axxallaxxa, unlike a cat, has tall ears and no mouth, it generally feeds upon the time of other creatures. ##### Where can the Axxallaxxa be found? The Axxallaxxa can be found often in the ruins of primitive civilisations, floating around and looking for creatures to feast upon. They don't have any methods of space travel themselves and are limited to the planets they find themselves on, but in most cases, if an Axxallaxxa is allowed to breed it can spread across a primitive world. It is an idle creature, not too smart, and driven only by hunger. Fortunately, the Axxallaxxa are very easy to kill (most weapons will do the job) and because of this they mostly keep to the shadows and approach pray quietly. ##### What abilities/talents does the Axxallaxxa have? With its third eye the Axxallaxxa can drain the life from a person, aging them considerably in the process and, in effect, stealing away their time. It can only do this though if a person makes direct eye contact with the Axxallaxxa. The person in question becomes paralysed as the Axxallaxxa feasts and the time it loses is dependant on how hungry to Axxallaxxa is, they could lose days, years, or decades of their life. There have been reports of fiendish groups taming the Axxallaxxa to use as torture devices. ##### How rare is an Axxallaxxa? The Axxallaxxa is a very rare creature as it is found only on primitive worlds. - - - ### B. - - - #### Bal'Darrog *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` An elephant-sized frog with an enormous maw that was once one of the primary modes of transportation on Pepolis. ``` ##### What does the Bal'Darrog look like? The Bal'Darrog is a huge beast that mostly resembles a bullfrog, except for its size and its detached eyes, which floating like two big green orbs just above its head. These eyes give the creature a 360 view on the world around it. The Bal'Darrog also has powerful legs that it uses to leap great distances forward and its mouth can house several Pepel at a time to carry without swallowing. ##### Where can the Bal'Darrog be found? The Bal'Darrog is native to Pepolis and serves as a primary mode of transportation for the great frog society. Pepel would enter the mouth of a well-trained Bal'Darrog and be transported great distances thanks to its impressive leaps across the planes or its ability to swim deep beneath the waters of Pepolis. ##### What abilities/talents does the Bal'Darrog have? Apart from its amazing leaping abilities and the ability to open its maw and house several guests at a time without swallowing them, the Bal'Darrog also has very thick skin that makes it a difficult creature to kill with standard weaponry. ##### How rare is the Bal'Darrog? It is not very rare and can be found in abundance on Pepolis — although it is rare to see outside of that planet. - - - #### Blockhoppers *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` They are a mainstay of the Chainspace, found mostly in uncivilized areas, one can know how close one is to the Outer Blocks by the density of Blockhoppers in the area. ``` ##### What does they look like? Blockhoppers are gelatinous blobs of matter encased in a hard plating resembling an armor or a carapace with cracks to allow for movement. They vary in size, going from the size of a cat up to 25 meters in length. They are distantly related to Blockworms, but are a completely different species. They move through chainspace by means of propulsion, hence their name “Blockhoppers”.The eyes of Blockhoppers are mounted on mobile stalks and can move independently of each other Blockhoppers have a bulbous shape, and no discernible extremities. However, their gelatinous shape is malleable which allows them to mimic proto-extremities when needed ##### Where do the Blockhoppers come from? Blockhoppers dwell in the forgotten areas of the Chainspace. They prefer the unicivilized vastness of space, where they are at the top of the food chain. They are found alla round the Chainspace, but the closer one gets to the Outer Blocks, the more common Blockhoppers are. It is unclear whether they are denizens of the Outer Blocks as well. ##### Do they have any unusual talents or abilities? Blockhoppers’ gelatinous matter is capable of storing and releasing astounding amounts of kinetic energy which they use to launch themselves from one place to the other. They also use this ability to repel threats and can “punch” other creatures with their plating, by releasing the stored energy and propelling a section of their armor outwards until it hits an obstacle. Blockhoppers can inflict serious damage on victims significantly greater in size than themselves by rapidly striking them with their plating. The plating is stuck to their gelatinous matter and acts both as a defensive shield and a blunt weapon Blockhoppers can move very fast due to their explosive kinetic potential. Some Blockhoppers have been found to engage in a form of ritualistic fighting. ##### How rare are Blockhoppers? They are rare within colonized areas of the Chainspace and are mostly found in the vastness of space, not in planets. They are more common the more unhabited by other sentient races an area is. - - - #### Bobamen *Contributed by Zeke* ##### What do Bobamen look like? Essentially semi-intelligent mounds of white foam and bubbles that take the shape of whatever they observe. These mounds of bubbles and foam will take the shape of a Pepel if one approaches, mimicking movements. They can take the shape of anything. ##### Where can they be found? Originally found in deep chainspace, floating alone. The first samples of these strange frozen bubbles were brought to a planet where it was found to thrive in wet areas. They grew and were observed to have some strange primitive intellignce despite being just bubbles. Bobamen can be found anywhere where there is wet spaces - even in cities. ##### What abilities / talents do the Bobamen have? Aside from mimickry and delighting children in the bathtub, larger Bobamen can be taught and trained to perform dances and choreography. The great circuses of the world use them in their fantastic shows. They also have the ability to survive in space. Some speculate that they are citizens of the quadratic realm that are trying to communicate something to this realm. ##### How rare are Bobamen? Small amounts of Bobamen foam are common, but large Pepel-sized Bobamen are more rare and take take many blocks to grow that large. - - - ### C. --- #### Chryptofelis *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` The Chryptofelis is a feline creature prized for its mild demeanor and ease of domestication among zoophilsts and traders alike. Chryptofelis fur is known to take on the color of the lightrays it was exposed to in the moments after its birth. ``` ##### What does it look like? The Chryptofelis has pointed ears, which are moderate in length and broad at the base. Its whiskers are white, number 7 to 16 on each side. Its eyes are large, with vertical pupils and its irises can be purple, blue, green, yellow, or in rare cases, red. They vary in size, commonly found to be between 50 cm and 1 meter in length. They are also found to have different coating patterns and mutations depending on the area of the Chainspace from which they originated Where does your creature come from? Where does it dwell? Chryptofelis hatch from eggs and they are able to reproduce on their own. It is likely their ease of domestication confers them an evolutionary advantage as they are most often kept in well fed and comfortable environments as pets. ##### Where can a Chryptofelis be found? They are found throughout Chainspace, wild sightings are rare as most Chryptofelis are domestic creatures and easy to breed. ##### Does the creature have any unusual talents or abilities? The Chryptofelis fur color changes depending on the location of its birth and thus no two Chryptofelis look the same. They are also very sensitive to shifts in the aether and are able to mutate from time to time. There is evidence of Chryptofelis with horns, poisonous sacks, extra tails, and other slight shifts in their baseline appearence. These changes are determined at birth and are yet to be fully understood. Most Chryptofelis have excellent night vision and can see at only one-tenth the light level required for Pepel vision. This is partly the result of their eyes having a small screen, which reflects any light that passes through the retina back into the eye, thereby increasing the eye’s sensitivity to dim light. ##### How rare is a Chryptofelis? Chryptofelis as a species are not rare. However, each instance of a Chryptofelis is exceedingly rare as it is unlikely that two Chryptofelis would exhibit the same physical characteristics at any given time. ##### Does your creature have any real-world mirrors? Cats. Kitties. Felines. Meow. - - - #### Cobielodon *Contributed by Zeke* ``` The giant drunken space whale ``` ##### What does they look like? The cobielodon is a giant space creature with massive sharp teeth, a mop of yellow tentacles on its head with dark eyes that appear like sunglasses. The body of the cobielodon is covered in port-like jets that it emits gas to propel itself through space. ##### Where can they be found? In solar systems with large gas planets. The cobielodon visits gas planets to consume the ammonia atmosphere where it gets wildly intoxicated, crashing into asteroids, killing small planets and smaller space whales. The cobielodon uses the ammonia to generate a strange kind of propellant that it can expel out its jets, travelling quite rapidly around its native system. ##### What abilities / talents does they have? The cobielodon seemingly exists only to get drunk and enjoy its status as the king of the chainspace. Originally thought to only have only female versions. However, the creature that lives in its blond tentacled 'hair', originally thought to be a parasite is actually the male. ##### How rare is a cobieldon? Quite rare, thankfully so. The cobielodon doesn't tolerate any other cobielodon in its system, aside from its parasite husband. If a cobielodon arrives in your solar system it's advised to not engage and hope that your system doesn't have any ammonia based gas giants. ##### What is its relationship with the zoo? There is only one cobielodon in the Zoo of Topheilia. - - - #### Cryptocrab *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` A simple creature, about the size of a grain, that comprises the totality of beaches on some select worlds in Chainspace. ``` ##### What does the Cryptocrab look like? To most, the Cryptocrab looks like a grain of sand, infinitely small, but when looked at with magnification the grain appears crab-like in nature. A crustacean with several legs and large arms. ##### Where can Cryptocrabs be found? There are beaches in the known universe that are completely comprised of these strange and near microscopic creatures. The most telltale sign that a person is standing upon a beach like this is in the way the beach moves, the dunes will collapse and reforms like waves of the ocean and make standing upon the surface difficult. ##### What abilities or talents do the Cryptocrabs have? They are ravenous, like piranha, and devour any organic material that touches their beach-ly forms. They swarm upon creatures and the like and reduce them to nothing, while using the sustenance to breed more of themselves. They don't reproduce like other creatures either, they reproduce through mitosis, infinitely recreating themselves. Some researchers have found that there are ways to control to Cryptocrabs with subtle waves of electricity, making them rigid in certain position, and there are even those that have taken to using the crabs as defensive doors or walls that people cannot move through without being devoured. ##### How rare are the Cryptocrabs? Because of their reproductive nature, they are quite a common thing in the universe. All it takes is one Cryptocrab to start a new beach, but fortunately most cultures have found ways to destroy them before they decimate populations. - - - ### D. - - - #### Degendespars *Contributed by Zeke* ``` The mountain builder ``` ##### What does it look like? A large, tan-colored, hairless creature with a giant, red, flappy pouch that hangs off it's back like a cape and large mouth that makes it appear like it's yelling. It has stone-like hands it uses to dig and fill it's bags and massive legs that needed to drag these enormous bags around. ##### Where can it be found? A solitary creature, the Degendespar lives on rocky planets, perpetually filling its bags and then dumping them. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? Degenspars dedicate their lives to filling their bags and dumping them. They typically find the lowest point in any geography, filling its bags with rocks and soil then dumping the bags at the highest nearby point. Caution to anyone who finds themselves downhill from the a Degendespar dump - they can cause a massive landslide. Settlements of Pepel often pop up around the Degendespar dumps as the dumps contain some valuable materials and increased fertility. ##### How rare is it? Incredibly rare, the Zoo only has one. Anecdotally, one particular civilization, coexisting with a Degendspar has a confusing saying about it: "The Degendespar will inevitably dump its bags and bury you." It begs the question, why put yourself in the way of these landslides? #### Dip Dog *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Used almost exclusively by prolific explorers and professional treasure-seekers, Dip Dogs have an impressive ability to sniff out valuables in the Chainspace making them invaluable pets. ``` ##### What does a Dip Dog look like? There are many different kinds of Dip Dogs that range in size, colour and build, but the most common features between each Dip Dog are their powerful six legs, their long snouts containing the noses they use to sniff out valuables, and their long horns that often go down the length of their backs. ##### Where can Dip Dogs be found? Dip Dogs can be found practically anywhere in Chainspace, often as companions, although they are becoming a rarer sight and are often associated with wealthier individuals. Different breeds are often associated with certain worlds (like the Pepdog, a Dip Dog with more froglike features) but mostly, each world contains some form of Dip Dog (or at least did). ##### Does the Dip Dog have any unusual talents or abilities? The Dip Dog has an obsession with valuables in Chainspace, it intrinsically knows the value of resources and assets scattered across the cosmos and actively seeks them out on the worlds they find themselves on. In recent years, the Dip Dog population has suffered greatly because of efforts to make them extinct, this is due to the fact that when they find valuables they consume them with their powerful maws, making the resource worthless (or almost worthless) as a result. ##### How rare are Dip Dogs? They were once quite common in Chainspace, but recent efforts to make them extinct by *Dog Hunters* have caused their population to dip drastically. They are often found only in the hands of richer individuals with a wealth of resources to feed them. - - - #### Dodecadolor *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` A twelve headed, tentacled creature native to the cold depths of the Chainspace ``` ##### What does it look like? The Dodecadolor is a massive tentacled creature whose body is covered in circular orificies with thick muscles covered in a protective chitinous cuticle. Each of its twelve heads protrudes from a central body and rests atop an ELONgated neck. Each head posses an independent brain and 4 eyes providing 360 degrees of vision. Each tentacle is endowed with specialised drilling appendages able to penetrate steel. Sightings of the Dodecadolor are rare and descriptions of its body shift from one witness to the other. ##### Where can the Dodecadolor be found? The Dodecadolor inhabits the cold depths of the Chainspace and is said to have been born after the destruction of the PILLGOD corporeal body ##### Does the Dodecadolor have any unusual talents or abilities? Within each of its heads there is a Quadatric Crystal which gives the Dodecadolor the unusual ability to coordinate twelve independent brains into a single deliberate purpose. The Dodecadolor is said to be a scourge of the Chainspace and is known to be a destroyer of ships and spacecraft. The Dodecadolor is able to modifiy the code-space of its surroundings at will and is highly intilligent. ##### How rare is a Dodecadolor? It is exceedingly rare to encounter one Dodecadolor, but should it happen, the only prudent course of action is to retreat from its vicinity as fast as possible. It is unclear whether only one Dodecadolor exists in the Chainspace and is the same being which has been encountered throughout time, or if there are multiple of its kind. The ability of the Dodecadolor to alter the code-space around it and its preferred natural habitat makes it challenging to prove any hypthosesis <span style="color: red;">**IMPORTANT NOTE:** There is not a Dodecadolor currently in the Zoo of Topheilia because of how dangerous they are. Although efforts have been made in the past to obtain one and were successful. The Topheil did manage to capture one inside of a prison, but deemed it too dangerous to remain on the planet. </span> - - - ### E. --- #### Elonkranks *Contributed by Zeke* ``` Black hole killers ``` ##### What does it look like? Not actually an animal, but the largest known virus. Fist sized, Egg-shaped, crystaline body with spongy tubes protruding all over its shell. It uses these tubes to slowly move around either on land or expelling energy out of the tubes in Chainspace. They are drawn towards the dark places with dense matter. ##### Where can it be found? They can only be found in black holes. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? They can infect, weaken and eventually 'kill' a black hole. The black holes infected with the Elonkranks virus act very erratically and sometimes die out all together. At the zoo, the Elonkrank is not the most exiting creature to observe. It will slowly move to any dark, shady parts of its enclosure, but that's pretty much it. They are able to live in light, but consume darkness by some unknown method. Strangely, dogs and Elonkranks are attracted to each other. The Elonkrank will light up its crystaline body and bounce around stupidly in the presence of a dog. Any dog brought to the zoo is allowed to play with the Elonkrank. ##### How rare is it? Incredibly rare outside of black holes. The zoo was able to obtain an Elonkranks by trading a Kyzz for one - the previous owners were never disclosed. - - - #### Encryptoi *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Large clouds of energy that are nearly indestructible and resistant to most kinds of damage. They've become synonymous with certain kinds spacecrafts who utilise them as a defence mechanism while they traverse space. ``` ##### What does an Encryptoi look like? The Encryptoi actually has two shapes that it can shift between, the most common of which is its gaseous form which resembles a transparent cloud. To onlookers it appears as a rolling fog that reflects the colours around it, making it invisible from great distances and disorientating to those looking close by. It's second form, otherwise known as its diamond form, is a more solid structure. The Encryptoi can compress itself down into a roving triangular-like shape that's about the size of a person's palm. ##### Where can an Encryptoi be found? In the vastness of Chainspace there exists gargantuan clouds drifting through the cosmos that contain thousands of Encryptoi journeying together. Not a solitary creature by nature, in the wild the Encryptoi often seeks others of its kind, combing their might into a pack that can better defend itself from natural predators; like the Cobielodon. ##### What abilities/talents does the Encryptoi have? The Encryptoi possess an almost indestructible form that's resistant to most kinds of damage and it's this particular feature that has drawn them the most attention. Some starcraft manufacturers have begun utilising the nature of the Encryptoi for their ships, domesticating them and using them as part of the ship's defence systems. It has become commonplace these days for Encryptoi to become a spacecraft's shields with heavy training, and it's becoming more and more common to see them used this way in other areas as well (like with personal shields). The Encryptoi are intelligent creatures that learn quickly and they have been found to develop a fierce loyalty to the structures they bond with. They've also have been found to be quite toxic to organic matter. ##### How rare are Encryptoi? Encryptoi are quite commonplace, especially in the wild. They've become a main structure in the design of new spacecrafts and are considered to be one of the better kinds of defence systems (but not the only one). - - - #### Ennjinni *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` They are ocre colored foxes with five tails, sharp claws and vicious teeth which can shapeshift at will ``` ##### What do the Ennjinni look like? Ennjinni are medium sized four legged creatures with five tails and an ochre colored coat. Their coating can be spotted, striped or with a slight decoloration at the ends. They have elongated heads ending in a sharp muzzle with numerous teeth. They have sharp claws and are excellent at hiding in small places ##### Where does your creature come from? Ennjinni are native to dry and arid places where the heat conjures up wonderous mirages of what cannot be and the dusty sands swirl in the wind in impossible patterns. These desert creatures are the bane of travelers who thinking they found a kindred partner, they are instead lured into the jaws of the desert foxes. ##### Does they have any unusual talents or abilities? An Ennjinni can reconstitute its code structure to change into what it sees, creating an exact replica of it, however it will not change its original mass. If copying a larger creature, the Ennjinni will increase its volume, likewise if copying a smaller one, the Ennjinni will become denser. Ennjinnis can remain in a replica state for days at a time which makes it troublesome for the keepers of the zoo sometimes. Luckily an Ennjinni wil revert back to normal after it has exhausted its energy reserves or needs to feed. ##### How rare is are the Ennjinni? Ennjinnis are found in dry and arid locations and are commonly seen accompanying members of the 3,3. Some bandit bands use Ennjinni as guardian animals. They are not native to Pepepolis. - - - ### F. - - - #### Fallameen Worms *Contributed by ZEKE* ##### What does it look like? The Fallameen worm is not actually a worm. Its tumescent body is actually its oversized penis, making up 90% of its mass. ##### Where can it be found? A desert-fairing, burrowing creature, it's not often found on the surface, but are quite common underground. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? The Fallameen worms work collectively to trap and consume other creatures by digging a deep pit under their prey, eventually collapsing it, trapping the animal and then slowly consuming it. These pits, called spank pits, should be avoided. The female version of the Fallameen worms are actually a rare type of Unicorn - called the Unisparks. There will typically be only one or two female per thousands of males. ##### How rare is it? Not often seen on land, but are common. The females are actually quite rare and beautiful creatures. - - - #### Foreget *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` In times forgotten, the foreget have existed. They are the remnants, shadows even, of timelines and branching block paths that were harshly rewritten. ``` ##### What does a Foreget look like? The Foreget, as a whole, can take a variety of forms but most notably look like humanoid shadows given life. They lie flat against any surface, as if cast, but can enter the three dimensional space at will. Many have claimed to see them take the forms of Pepel and Hashmonks, but it's been noted that its incredibly rare to find an individual Foreget that can shift between forms. ##### Where can the Foreget be found? They can be found in most places as they are the result of abandoned timelines and the resetting of blocks in the chain. They are things that shouldn't exist, but yet they do. The Foreget can most often be found in shadowy places, like the underground of civilisations, or general locations where the light doesn't reach. ##### Do they have any unusual talents or abilities? Many who have encountered a Foreget first comment of their aggressive nature. They are idle-minded creatures driven only by an immense rage and they've been known to attack any living creatures they come into contact with. They have a remarkable ability to utilise the shadows, stepping in and out of them at will, and they also bear an impressive strength that they use to beat their opponents with. At casual study, the Foreget don't seem to need sustenance and can exist without any food sources at all, but they have a vulnerability to light, casting a bright light source on them dissipates them for a while. ##### How rare are the Foreget? The Foreget are quite common, although there are certain rarities of the Foreget that collectors like to keep an eye out for. Particularly a subspecies called the 'Reminders' — these Foreget have the ability to communicate feelings through telepathic bonds and there are even some that have been reported able to transmit memories from worlds that don't exist. - - - #### Frax's Aquila *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` Named after the first one to describe it. It is a large, winged, metallic creature with the ability to grow and regrow in a fractal pattern ``` ##### What does a Frax's Aquila look like? The Frax’s Aquila is a silver-gray, avian creature with a short metallic head, legs, and tail. It has blue eyes, a pointed beak, and a crest on its head. Its wings are made of a fractal pattern that extends from its body, repeating itself until it forms the complete wing. As a result of its intricate pattern, its wings are actually hollow, allowing it to travel at faster speeds than its massive size would suggest. Its feet have three massive talons, two in front and one in back, and its tail has hooked ends. The Zookeepers have learned not to grab them. ##### Where can the Frax's Aquila be found? The Frax’s Aquila is native to the Chainspace and can be found in most areas. ##### Does they have any unusual talents or abilities? The Frax’s Aquila can increase its size by extending the fractal pattern indefenitely. It is pressumed that the only limitations to the potential growth of a specimen are its age, and availability of nourishment. If a Frax’s Aquila is badly injured, they have been seen to self mutilate and remove their injured parts by cutting the fractal pattern just until the damaged area begins. The fractal pattern can grow again and will be indistinguishable from the previous iteration. ##### How rare is a Frax's Aquila? The Frax’s Aquila was once a common sighting in numerous planets, but their numbers have been dwindling with the passing blocks. It might have something to do with the Regenesis and the ongoing chaos in the Chainspace - - - ### G. - - - #### Garnll *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Small leech-like insects that attach themselves to the brains of a creature in order to absorb it into their hivemind mentality. ``` ##### What do the Garnll look like? To most, the Garnll look like small black leeches that give off a faint red glow when near a creature of a sapient race. They move along the floor like slugs in their larvae form and sprout insectoid wings in their later forms which they use to fly with and locate new hosts. ##### Where can the Garnll be found? They've become something of a rarity because of how dangerous they are. The Garnll can only exist as servants to a creature known as the Hux (and are even birthed from the Hux), which serves as the brain behind the Garnll. The Hux is the central point for all thought in a Garnll colony and the Garnll act like worker ants, seeking out hosts. They've most commonly been found lurking on abandoned planets or places where people don't normally travel to. ##### Do the Garnll have any abilities or talents? While the Garnll are mindless themselves, driven only by an innate desire to find new hosts, they have a powerful connection to the Hux. When a Garnll finds a potential hosts, it crawls into its brain where it feasts and makes room for itself, then, after a matter of days, the host becomes part of the Hux, serving it in a different capacity to the Garnll. For this reason, the Garnll are thought of as very dangerous. ##### How rare are the Garnll? They are not overly common in Chainspace, as most species elect to try and destroy the Garnll by way of killing the Hux. Despite that though there are a few major colonies of Garnll known about in forbidden zones where a Hux has taken over an entire population. - - - #### Gracits *Contributed by Zeke* ``` Beat-making insects ``` ##### What does it look like? An insect-like creature resembling a hopping type insect except they have a third leg that they use to beat on their large hollow carapace. Some rarer breeds light up with neon colors when playing their music. ##### Where can it be found? In Pepepolis, they are very common, found in the trees making the common Gracit beat [insert beatmakers guild sound file here]. The Pepel breed these insects for their incredible ability to make beats and synthy rhythms with its legs. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? By rubbing it’s legs together and beating on its carapace the Gracits make several types of music (depending on the breed). There are several breeds of Gracits that each produce a distinct beat and song. Several of these insects placed in the same room will match beats and will harmonize their driving rhythms. Favorites at parties, the common Gracit will be brought to the party to play their song while Pepel will sing along with their throaty, amphibious raps. Rare Gracits are used by nearly every famous musician in Pepepolis. ##### How rare is it? Common Gracits can be found all over Pepepolis. Every family in Pepepolis owns at least one common Gracit, but there are some breeds of Gracits that are rare and highly prized for their quality of music and unique sound. These Gracits fetch very high prices and fill stadiums of Pepel. The Pepel musician GRAC owns one of the rarest, most unique sounding Gracits with the ability light up neon pink, emitting strobe lights from its eyes. GRAC claims he found this Gracit in the desert after smoking Memetus flowers for three days. - - - ### H. - - - #### Harmwood *Contribued by Zeke* ``` Rapacious, shapeshifting tree ``` ##### What does it look like? A type of shapeshifter the Harmwood emulates Pepel, but is in fact a tree. When it's not emulating a Pepel it grows among stands of hardwood trees popular for building on Pepel. The trees it lives among are the most ancient in Chainspace. ##### Where can it be found? Most commonly in the ancient forests of Pepepolis. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? For some reason the Harmwood shapeshifter only targets the males of any species and for this reason female Pepel are the leaders in the logging industry. The heart of the Harmwood trees is one of the hardest organic substances in existence, known to grind even stone. ##### How rare is it? Rare, but common enough that male Pepel rarely visit the ancient forests in fear that they will be brutally ravaged. - - - #### The Hux *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` An inter-dimensional entity that invades reality by spreading its 'vines' and 'servants' into new universes. It is a dangerous creature that acts as the central brain to a system of creatures designed to invade ecosystems and take over. ``` ##### What does the Hux look like? The Hux appears as a large pile of ooze with reaching vines that lurk beneath the surface of wherever it finds itself to be. The Hux is a devious creature that can create various kinds of offspring (most commonly Garnll) and is often found with a large egg sack in its centre. The Hux has no real form of its own, it cannot move and it has no physical senses, it relies on its 'servants' to act out its desires. ##### Where can the Hux usually be found? The Hux primarily come from alternate and abandoned timelines that have branched off from main blocks. In these realities they have conquered and taken over and have managed to gather enough psychic energies from their servants to break through into a new universe through a ritual known as The Travelling. The Travelling allows a Hux to cross over, but means it must start from scratch at building new empires. ##### What unusual talents or abilites does the Hux possess? The Hux reproduces by traversing into alternate dimensions, after breaking through during The Travelling it creates two version of itself through a reproductive cycle similar to mitosis. It leaves one version of itself in its old reality while another version of itself enters the new reality. The reason why it is called The Hux and not simply Hux is because it's commonly believes that all of The Hux are the same creature and that there has only ever been one that continues to replicate across dimensions. To branch off into new realities, the Hux utilises its servants, while it cannot replicate itself it can create small offspring that act as its senses in the new reality. Most commonly are the Garnll, who can infect the minds of certain creatures and compel them to act under the Hux's will. To these servants the Hux is the brain and if it is killed the servants die too. ##### How rare is the Hux? There have been many reports of Hux behaviour on a variety of different worlds, but despite that they are considered to be rare because of the way they replicate themselves. - - - ### I. - - - #### Illiox *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` A small flightless bird that has become a staple to some gourmet meals and grants those that eat it certain benefits depending upon its mood. ``` ##### What does an Illiox look like? An illiox is small and round, not bigger than a coconut, and often covered in multicoloured feathers that depict its mood. When agitated, it spreads its wing in a flash of crimson. When calm, its feathers flutter with blue radiance. When lost or confused it'll often glow a bright orange. ##### Where can an Illiox be found? Illiox farms exist across Chainspace now, but most think they originated from a small world known as Hombra. They've become known for their delicious taste, which varies depending on the planet of origin and the mood the bird was in when it was cooked. ##### Does the Illiox possess any remarkable traits or abilities? When feasted upon, the Illiox provides certain benefits depending on its mood. If it was cooked in a calm state, it acts as a sleeping agent which places a person to sleep in a matter of minutes. If cooked enraged, the feaster feels an opposite effect, becoming full of energy. There's also a secret state of the Illiox that only some cooks know how to bring out, which is said to possess a remarkable healing ability which can knit wounds back together and cure rare diseases. ##### How rare is the Illiox? The Illiox is quite a common delicacy across the cosmos, but it's various states can be described as quite common to rare, requiring trained chefs and animal handlers to bring those rare qualities out - - - #### Ion Feeders *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` Ion Feeders. Ion feeders are wormlike creatures native to the Chainspace living in a symbiotic relationship with Blockworms. ``` ##### What does they look like? Ion feeders look like small worms or elongated fishes. They are mostly blind with a feeding organ which is just a ciliated crown of tentacles surrounding a mouth ##### Where can an Ion Feeder be found usually? Their home is *Chainspace*, the space between planets where they can find the dust of ionized Godblood to feed. They are found travelling alongisde Blockworms and are mostly seen in the Outer Blocks. They are common dwellers in the dark unruly vastness of space ##### Does they have any unusual talents or abilities? These creatures feed off of ionized Godblood floating in the Chainspace- they are usually found traversing through space along the much bigger Blockworms. Small and nimble, they eat the ionized Godblood that falls from time to time from Blockworms as they feed. They are mostly blind with a feeding organ which is just a ciliated crown of tentacles surrounding a mouth. They vary in color and are mostly harmless to other creatures of the Chainspace. There are records of spaceship crews using Ion Feeders as an ad-hoc source of fuel. Crushed and distilled into a liquid, they can make a makeshift replacement for Synthetized Godblood. Although the quantities of Ion feeders required make it a cumbersome and less than practical way of fueling large spaceships. ##### How rare is the creature? Ion feeders are relatively common in the Outer Blocks, practically unheard off in the orbit of other planets like Pepepolis. - - - ### J. - - - #### Jomoeon *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Psychic entities that indulge in whispering in the ears of those that have suffered great loss. Not to be confused with Fomogel, who whisper words of encouragement to those who may suffer great losses later on. ``` ##### What does a Jomoeon look like? They appear most commonly as glitching masks that resemble a person or creature that their target respects or has a lot of faith in. They only appear to those that have suffered a great and recent loss as they delight in bringing out negative emotions by gloating over their losses and revealing possible ways the outcome could have been avoided; some have even speculated that they feed on these emotions for their own sustenance. ##### Where do they come from? The Jomoeon are said to come from the Shadowchain and act as spies on the natives of Chainspace for the greater entities that dwell there. It’s believed that, even if they don’t feed in negative emotions, they report back the losses of Chainspace to their masters who wish to keep informed. ##### What talents/abilities do the Jomoeon have? They possess the ability to manifest a form outside of the Shadowchain, although that form is mostly incorporeal and can’t interact with physical objects. They also have sight into possible futures and can accurately predict possible outcomes depending on certain actions. In the past some citizens of Chainspace have even managed to trick them into revealing something that could lead them to great success later on. ##### How rare are they? Quite rare, as manifesting themselves takes a lot of work. - - - ### K. - - - #### Kyzz *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Formless artificial intelligences that were originally designed by the forerunner societies to safeguard their secrets from nefarious forces. ``` ##### What does a Kyzz look like? Kyzz have no physical form as they exist primarily as artificial entities, but most commonly they've appeared to people as simple images (like emojis). As long as they have access, they can show themselves through physical monitors or screen while conversing through speaking devices. ##### Where do Kyzz come from? The original purpose of the Kyzz was to defend the sacred temples and important buildings of the forerunner species. They were given utmost control over the security of these places and they are considered to be powerful entities when within their homes. Ultimately, they decide who can or cannot access a location. Over the millions of blocks though, some of these locations have fallen into ruin, leaving the Kyzz homeless. They are often found by travellers, who download them and carry them to new homes. ##### What abilities or talents do Kyzz possess? Kyzz are driven by a particular purpose that was programmed into them at their original creation. It's hard to deviate from that purpose, but not entirely impossible. They were programmed to defend things of importance that the forerunners didn't want other species to see or have access to, but once these things have been exposed, they are usually open to new purposes as long as it falls in line with their original design. Kyzz are incredibly adept with technology, they can move through anything with a network and reprogram devices in a matter of moments. Once a Kyzz has access to a system, they are often hard to get rid of. ##### How rare are Kyzz? There are probably just over a hundred known Kyzz living in Chainspace right now, making them super rare creatures. The Topheil have made it one of their missions to collect these A.I (particularly those that have been left behind and forgotten) and integrate them in keeping the Zoo of Topheilia secure. - - - ### L. - - - #### Locus Larvae *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Small worm-like creatures that are highly sought after by collectors of rare and exotic animals. They infect people and give them boons in exchange for passing them on to others so they can spread. ``` ##### What does a Locus Larvae look like? The Locus Larvae has a very basic form, it looks similar to a worm with a sharp needle-like face which it uses to burrow beneath a person's skin. When a person is carrying the Locus Larvae, it appears as a long bump underneath the skin, but when the Locus Larvae leaves one host and moves onto the next, it leaves behind an imprint of itself in the form of a holographic tattoo which glow out from the spot it was previously embedded. ##### Where are Locus Larvae typically found? No one knows their original planet of place of origin. The Locus Larvae cannot survive without hosts and so they move on from person to person, so while they don't have a known origin they can be found in any place across Chainspace where there are people (often wealthier people who can afford to be infected by them). There are rumours circulating though that the first Locus Larvae (the true locus) was found caged in one of of the ruined temples that litter the unknown regions, but that's never been confirmed, ##### What abilities or talents do the Locus Larvae possess? To those they infect the Locus Larvae grant a boon, often making them more physically fit or more intelligent, but only when the Locus Larvae have left the host's body. This has made them highly sought after by collectors of rare things and, as a result, very expensive. People want to be infected by the Locus Larvae so they can pass them on to the next person and receive their boons, they are willing to pay large sums of money to make that happen. ##### How rare are the Locus Larvae? They are especially rare in Chainspace. - - - ### M. - - - #### Market Rat *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Tiny creatures that can be found in any place that trades wealth for assets, they have an inclination to steal from those easily fooled. ``` ##### What does a Market Rat look like? Market Rats are tiny beasts that have developed unusual patterns on their fur that allows them to camouflage themselves against marketplace rugs. They stand on two large back legs with tiny paws at their front and can often be found watching people in market places with their beady little eyes. They enjoy feasting on the things that people misplace and have been known to always be hungry — feeding them will only ever result in them returning for more. ##### Where are Market Rats often found? They are found in any place that has active trade, but they are more commonly found in nests near those places. An infestation of Market Rats is always nearby with ready access to the market and they can be quite hard rodents to get rid of — there's always more of them, no matter how many times you wipe them out. They make their nests out of old rugs found in the markets that they rip apart and use for bedding; some even interweave the rug's patterns into their own fur. ##### What talents or abilities do the Market Rats possess? Although most treat them as dumb rodents, they have actually been proven to be quite intelligent in numbers. While a single Market Rat poses little to no threat, when they work together they can be quite adept at tricking people into disposing of their hard-earned goods. They learn from each others tricks, at what does and doesn't work, until they perfect their process. Some have been known to cover the eyes of targets with their rug-like fur, while others steal their wealth. ##### How rare are the Market Rats? They are a fairly common creature across Chainspace. - - - #### Maxikrem *Contributed by Zeke* ``` The pet rock ``` ##### What does it look like? An ugly, stone-like creatures that emits a loud whine that sounds like "eeeeth eeeeth" when not hibernating. They are a small-medium sized creature with a tough leathery carapace, resembling a large stone, with short legs and eyes that emits light like a lazer. They have the ability to deflate their bodies completely of fluids so that it becomes completely stone-like where it can hibernate, even in space, doing absolutely nothing until provoked at which point it will begin its whine. ##### Where can it be found? Many civilizations enjoy the Maxikrem in its hibernating form and keep them around, deflated, as pet rocks. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? The Maxikrem will attach itself to spacecraft, like a parasitic leach, travelling on the craft to new moons or planets where it will breed and spread. ##### How rare is it? Quite common and problematic to space travel. - - - ### N. - - - #### Nodeslug *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` This cute little guy enjoys feeding on data, often gorging itself until it bursts into a strange goo. ``` ##### What does the Nodeslug look like? A small green translucent creature whose inner workings are constructed of ancient nanotechnology. It was once the design of a forerunner society, but its purpose is unknown. It doesn't have any limbs and moves at a slow pace. ##### Where can the Nodeslugs be found? They love eating data and can often be found where there's high volumes of information being transmitted, like communication towers and satellites and nodes of all kinds. No one quite knows how they get there? Some believe that they can transmit themselves as data, travelling along strong connections, but that's never been proven. ##### What abilities/talents do the Nodeslugs have? Nodeslugs are annoying pests that can be harmful to methods of transmitting data, although they are easy to kill (a solid boot often does the job). They do have some value though, any data they eat they always retain making them valuable storage devices for data. Some space-faring species have utilised them in their data centres, allowing them to gorge on information and retrieving it again through their systems. The more data a Nodeslug eats, the more it grows, until eventually it gets large enough to burst and dies upon which the gooey residue of its passing reforms into several other Nodeslugs. The largest Nodeslug recorded was the size of a small moon, but that was though to be a fluke, they tend to get to be the size of elephants. ##### How rare are Nodeslugs? Nodeslugs are fairly common in Chainspace and have become a frequent pest. - - - ### O. - - - #### Ol *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Sometimes old technology goes awry and comes alive with a mind of its own. When that happens, it usually the result of an Ol. ``` ##### What does the Ol look like? They appear most commonly as bits of dust floating in the air and are near invisible to the eye. ##### Where can the Ol be found? In the graveyards of abandoned and written off spacecrafts; they are most commonly formed in the breakdown of old engines. Ol are flecks of power derived from old synthetic godblood that has deteriorated from remaining dormant for decades.. ##### What Abilities/Talents do the Ol have? The Ol are tiny sources of power that have been known to find their way into old and decaying technologies and bring them back to life for short periods of time. They are sentient creatures that have some understanding of the universe around them, but very little logic to guide them. Sometimes this can result in deadly encounters, with reports of ghost ships flying into other spacecrafts, or blasters going off randomly in old cabins, or ancient machines becoming active and deadly once again. ##### How rare are the Ol? Quite rare. With how valuable synthetic godblood is, it's very rarely misplaced or forgotten about, but occasionally a spacecraft gets misplaced, or fuel leaks into the vastness of the void, resulting in this space dust that seeks out something to power. - - - #### Optimystics *Contributed by Zeke* ``` Creatures bred by the Hashmonks to patrol the boundaries of the Mempool. ``` ##### What does it look like? A rolling, bouncing head with affable-looking smiles that hide a nasty set of red teeth that it uses to tear apart and consume its victims. They are quite tame looking with an over-sized, sphere shaped, yellowish head and shiny dark black eyes. Be warned - they are killers. ##### Where can it be found? At the boundaries of the Mempool where it patrols and guards against corruption. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? If a corrupted entity attempts to enter the Mempool the Optimystics will swarm the corrupted entity, tearing it apart and consuming it whole. The Optimystics were bred by the Hashmonks to sustain the purity of the Mempool from certain streams that flow into their realm. They guard, patrol and are incredibly effective at securing the Mempool ##### How rare is it? Rare. Only found in certain streams that flow into the Mempool. If you find yourself staring face-to-face with an Optimystic you most certainly have done something to deserve such a horrible end. However, if you are truly innocent its best to let it pass - they have been known to 'accidentally' devour innocent Hashmonks. The Optimystics take a better safe than sorry approach. - - - #### Ossophagi Olearus - “Bog lanterns” *Contributed by 0xstax* ##### What does a Bog Lantern like? Bog lanterns colonies are easily distinguished by their blue and purple coloration, small caps, and bubble like appearance. They are gelatinous to the touch and exhude a milky white substance when pressed. To the untrained eye, the eerie glow of Pepepolis swamplands are a result of the many glowworms living in the fetid waters, however the observant ones know that the distintict cerulean glow comes not from the flying insects but from the feeding fungus growing on its shores. The cryptochemical reaction that allows the Ossophagi to feast and grow on bone matter is also responsible for their otherworldly glow. ##### Where does your creature come from? Where does it dwell? Native to the marshes, swamps ang bogs of Pepepolis, these fungal parasites are often found growing in the bones and carcasses of the unburied dead. ##### Does it have any unusual talents or abilities? Apart from their distinct cerulean glow, Ossophagi Olearus are also known to be used as a hallucinogen by certain followers of the Old Ways. A recipe for Hopium mentions the use of “White tears” as one of the precursor chemicals needed to produce it – some of the Zookeepers believe this is a reference to the white liquid excreted by the Ossophagi. The Zookeepers have also discovered another ability these small creatures possess. "Bog Lanterns" are incredibly efficient at removing chemical contamination from a porous surface – more specifically, if a surface is porous enough for an Ossophagi Olearus colony to take root, they will use the pollutant as feedstock and excrete a white liquid as waste. The Zoo of Topheilia is conducting an experiment to evaluate the potential use of Ossophagi as a decontamination agent. ##### How rare is the creature? The Ossophagi are very common and widespread in the swamps of Pepepolis. - - - ### P. - - - #### Pepboi *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` The most unremarkable creature in existence. ``` ##### What does a Pepboi look like? It is an overly round creature, covered in a green-hued leathery skin which itself is covered in warts and multicoloured spots. It has one central eye and a large mouth with an overly long tongue which it uses to snatch insects and other small creatures. The Pepboi has no discernible limbs as it rolls from place to another. ##### Where can the Pepboi be found? In the swamps of Pepolis mainly. ##### What remarkable talents or abilities does the Pepboi have? If any? None. It is thought of as the most unremarkable creature in existence to the point where some researchers have come to think of that as a remarkable talent. People and other creatures typically want nothing to do with the Pepboi. Some believe that this is either due to its mostly unremarkable nature or that the Pepboi lowkey emits a low psychic signal to keep away predators. No proper research has been done though, because of its nature. ##### How rare is the Pepboi? They're quite common in the swamps of Pepolis. There's one in the Zoo of Topheilia, and it was brought to the planet by accident after rolling into a transportation unit with a Bal'Darrog being transported to the zoo. - - - #### Primate Permutatio *Contributed by Seryk* ##### What does it look like? They are rather large simians of moderate intelligence. A rather rubbery and malleable body with color changing fur covering most of it. They come in all colors and varieties that seem determined only by what that specific ape finds to be aesthetically pleasing. ##### Where can they be found? They have small colonies in jungles throughout many worlds. While originating on a small planet long ago, due to their strange and fascinating looks, they’ve been exported to many planets. Some for research, some for zoos, and also by those just wanting to spread the beauty of the ape shapes. ##### What remarkable abilities or talents does it have? The apes are able to change the color of their fur, through what seems to be like flexing a muscle to them, whenever they please. They’re able to be solid colored, multi-colored or even have special patterns. Of moderate intelligence, some have taken to trying to dress up, mimicking the denizens of whatever planet they’re on. They’re able to use their dexterous hands to work the buttons on their clothes even. Oddly, those that have been in captivity at the Zoo of Topheilia the longest have begun to display strange mutations of late. Their colors are no longer the only thing they’re manipulating. Or perhaps it’s an unconscious response to being in captivity, but their bodies have also begun to change. Their rubbery bodies seeming to slough off and become loose, revealing the muscle underneath. The extra skin being used to create extra appendages, sometimes arms, eyes, etc.. A variety of ghastly changes have begun with no telling where they’ll lead. ##### How rare is the creature? They’re not very rare. In the wild they’re prolific breeders. With the help of others to disperse them throughout the planets, it makes it that much easier for them to populate wherever they seem to end up. - - - #### Pterofractal *Contributed by Seryk* ##### What does it look like? Pterofractals are large, winged creatures covered in scales. They have patterns, upon patterns of color upon their wings. No two pterofractals have the same wing patterns. With an elongated beak and sharp teeth they prey upon smaller land-based creatures. ##### Where can they be found? They live and nest within higher mountainous areas. Using the advantage of their wings so they can stay safe, yet swoop down to hunt easily. Their nests are especially crucial for when they go through their unique molting process. ##### What remarkable abilities or talents does it have? The pterofractals live in a state of life, death and rebirth. At the time of their death they retreat to their nests to molt and start the birth cycle again. Pterofractals lives, while long, are not immortal, nor are they ever set in stone. Researchers have noted that they do not undergo a certain amount of rebirths. The amount almost seems random. Some of the oldest pterofractals could go through scores or rebirths, yet a perfectly healthy one could perhaps do two. No one is ever sure if a pterofractal will actually repeat the cycle of life again. ##### How rare is the creature? Of moderate rarity. Despite their longevity, the pterofractals prefer to be solitary creatures by nature. Only mating once every so often. Being rather territorial makes it difficult for them to actually meet with a mate. Due to their life cycle having a vulnerable state of rebirth, they don’t like to let many others near their nest. - - - ### Q. - - - #### Q'uakx *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` They dwell in dreams. ``` ##### What does a Q'uakx look like? No one has ever seen the true form of a Q'uakx as they appear differently to different people, although they usually take the appearance of a small animal and can be recognised as a Q'uakx by the smell orb that floats above their heads. ##### Where can a Q'uakx be found? Most usually in dreams, it likes to hop about the space between spaces and only physically manifests itself in Chainspace when it wants to. ##### What abilities/talents does a Q'uakx possess? They can walk the realm between dreams but their physical forms offer the powers of certainty. People have sought Q'uakx out to ascertain a certain direction or formulate the basis of an idea. It's said that staring at one for prolonged periods of time can give a person tremendous insight into their own lives and help them unravel great tasks before them. Games Masters have used them to unravel puzzles and riddles. Explorers have used to them uncover clues on a map. Mathmeticians have used them to solve complex formulas. ##### How rare are the Q'uakx? Severely rare. They are seldom seen in the universe because they prefer to live in a mindscape and there's only one case of a Q'uakx existing in Chainspace for prolonged periods of time, and that is the Q'uakx that currently dwells in the Zoo of Topheila. It acts as one of the main attractions of the zoo for visitors and has a good relationship with the Topheil. - - - #### Qobra *Contributed by Seryk* ##### What does a Qobra look like? Small serpentine creatures of segmented crystal with a hooded head the shape of a diamond. Their mouths have two primary fangs used to inject their venom, with a secondary set of teeth lining the back of their mouths, used to grind and then digest the ore and crystals that are their primary diet. ##### Where can a Qobra be found? They’re mainly found in the caves that pockmark a small desert planet in the Chainspace. Though due to their image being similar to the Vyper-God the planet had taken varying stances on the Qobra. Most lawful cities place bounties on the Qobra as some citizens have taken to idolizing them, due to their similarity to the Vyper-God, despite their dangerous nature. Those that do covet them, try to protect and smuggle the serpents across the Chainspace. ##### What abilities/talents does a Qobra possess? The venom they secrete is capable of paralyzing and fatally petrifying creatures. Though capable of killing larger creatures, they typically only bite when threatened. The venom crystallizes the muscles of the smaller rodents they typically consider prey, where they use their second set of teeth to grind and digest them. If one of their crystalline segments are damaged, they can use the ground crystals they’ve eaten to assimilate and try to patch the damaged areas. ##### How rare are the Qobra? While mainly being localized to their home planet, there have been sparse sightings throughout the Chainspace overall. Few cases of confiscation have been documented by those trying to smuggle them in to more secure planets. - - - ### R. - - - #### Ravage 0xxl *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Living in the more mountainous areas of worlds, the Ravage 0xxl invades the nests of creatures and devours their young. ``` ##### What does a Ravage 0xxl look like? Crawling on four legs and flying with large feathered wings, the Ravage 0xxl is born as a lizard that evolves into a bird and becomes a mixture of the two over the course of its life. Covered in a fusion of black feathers and scales, and wielding a powerful beak with matching claws, a Ravage 0xxl searches the peaks of the mountains looking for the nests of flying animals to devour. ##### Where can a Ravage 0xxl be found? Although they prowl the mountaintops, the Ravage 0xxl actually prefer the dark and can be quite often found deep within cave structures that lead back to the outside. There's no one planet these creatures dwell on and they've been found across a variety of worlds in Chainspace. They've also been known to travel from one planet to another when food sources are diminished. ##### What abilities or talents does a Ravage 0xxl possess? They are infamously known to be very callous creatures, unless they are on the brink of starvation they will only feed on the young. Other adult creatures they simply like to tear apart with their powerful claws, they can be extremely territorial and they have a particular hatred of the Pterfractal. They are unwieldy creatures that can't be tamed and there's some that believe they originated from the Shadowchain because of their appearance and nature. ##### How rare are the Ravage 0xxl? They are quite rare because, on top of their hatred for other creatures, they also have a deep-seated hatred for their own kind as well. - - - #### RoRos *Contributed by 0xStax* ``` Even chainspace-farers need a beast of burden from time to time. ``` ##### What does it look like? RoRos are bulky, 6 legged creatures with a grey carapace and thick skin underneath. They also possess massive tusks affixed at the lower end of their jaws. They are gentle beings with an uncanny ability to haul 50 times their own weight. Their legs are thick and conical in shape. ##### Where does your creature come from? Where does it dwell? RoRos are native to a small planet, in the middle of a merkle nebula – which makes it impossible to send for help if you run into trouble. They quickly became a fixture of transport in unhospitable terrains thanks to their high stamina, resilience and speed. ##### Does it have any unusual talents or abilities? They live relatively long lives, but old RoRos are unsuitable for heavy freight use, and if kept, are relegated as pets, or displays of wealth. They are the preferred means of cargo transport in numerous terrains, and they are particularly desired in desert locations, as they can be used as protection against Ennjinnis. A RoRo can stand still with a full haul for long periods of time without needing rest or using much energy - a feat an Ennjinni cannot easily mimic ##### How rare is the creature? They are expensive, but not too rare – they are native to only one planet in the Chainspace, but they can be found in multiple locations thanks to their popularity among caravan traders and other more unsavoury types. RoRo trading can be a lucrative endeavor – if a dangerous one. - - - #### The Rhylesh *Contributed by ZEKE* ``` The reanimator urchin ``` ##### What does it look like? The Rhylesh have a body covered with long spikes of varying size to which it impales the dead body parts of other creatures that it has scavenged, reanimating the limbs. ##### Where can it be found? It can be found in graveyards or at any place where it might scavenge the body parts it wants. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? The spines have the ability to reanimate the nervous system of the dead body part. It's common to see 3-4 different creatures compounded together on the spikey body of a Rhylesh. Rhylesh have been known to attach the heads of sentient creatures, which briefly allows the Rhylesh to gain some of the sentience of the corpse's former living self. ##### How rare is it? Fairly rare. However, if a large amount of corpses would go unburied the Rhylesh would certainly emerge to gather its morbid accessories. - - - ### S. - - - ### T. - - - #### T—Rekt *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Gigantic creatures comprised of the scrap and ruins of destroyed homes. ``` ##### What does a T-Rekt look like? Otherwise known as Totallitariux Rekt the T-Rekt is a gargantuan creature composed from the various scrap and ruins of a destroyed location — everything from metal to stone to wood and resources beyond. It can take on several appearances, and no two of these creatures look alike, but it mains body resembles that of a gigantic two-legged lizard. ##### Where can a T-Rekt be found? In destroyed places across Chainspace, living and lurking in the fragmented heaps of a civilisation that has met its end. More commonly found on known forerunner homeworlds, but also found in more recently destroyed places as well. ##### What abilities/talents does a T-Rekt have No one knows how a T-Rekt is formed, but it is considered to be a largely unstoppable creature, especially in its home. Despite its large stature it can easily hide amongst the wreckage and they're often known to be capable of incredible violence to outsiders that visit their homes. A T-Rekt can never be destroyed, if it gets dismantled it'll simply reform days later unless it is taken away from its home — if destroyed away fromn the location of its birth it does not reform. ##### How rare is a T-Rekt? T-Rekt are considered to be quite rare and born only in certain circumstances. Although their homes are known, none really know why or how these creatures form, only that they're incredibly dangerous when they do. - - - ### U. - - - #### Umbrados *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Alone they are nothing, but in great quantities they've been known to overthrow cities and bring unprotected planets to rubble. Extremely dangerous creatures that multiply quickly. ``` ##### What does an Umbrados look like? Glitching endlessly in and out of of existence, the Umbrados appears as a small creature covered in sharp black fur. It has two large pointed antenna sticking out of its head, and eyes that glow a bright red. Most consider them to be cute, and there's even those that have managed to keep a few as pets, but together they form a large mass of black fur that can sweep over civilisations and devour everything in its path like a cataclysmic tidal wave. ##### Where can the Umbrados be found? Certain species and groups have designated the Umbrados as a massive threat to life and matter in Chainspace, but rather than hunt the creatures to extinction, they have placed these fluffy fiends on a planet all their own. Known as DOXX, the planet acts as their homeworld and was once the home of a mighty forerunner civilisation that has long since crumbled to dust. Space farers are forbidden from stepping foot on DOXX in order to prevent the unintentional transportation of these creatures. ##### What Talents/Abilites do the Umbrados have? They enjoy eating matter of any kind, which they use to then replicate themselves in a matter of seconds. The more they eat, the more Umbrados there are in the universe. Once they were a quaint little species of creature living in the unknown regions, but some nefarious groups thought to weaponise them and brought them into the larger universe. For any unprepared world, it only takes one Umbrados to cause untold destruction and bring a system to its knees. In matter of days, the Umbrados can breed enough to overwhelm any place it happens to find itself in. They are especially effective at this because can coordinate their actions through communicating with one another telepathically. Fortunately, these creatures do have a weakness, a sensitivity to certain frequencies, which can be broadcast by prepared worlds in the case of an attack and scramble the coordination of the Umbrados. ##### How rare are the Umbrados They are quite rare in the universe at large, but quite common in their own corner of Chainspace. - - - ### V. - - - #### Vitemu *Contribution by Zeke* ``` Giver of long lasting life in exchange for painful knowledge ``` ##### What does it look like? A large flightless bird with a long scorpion-like tail and an angular beak. It has beautiful plummage and long rainbow colored feathers. Standing as tall as a full grown Pepel, the Vitemu’s tail contain stingers used to defend itself and kill it’s prey. ##### Where can it be found? Found in the arid climates near Pepepolis, Vitemus are typically solitary creatures, spending most of their day feeding on Maxikrem and baby Nodeslugs, which it kills with a jab from its stinger. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? The stinger of the Vutemu contains a rare poison that permanently immobilizes and curses the infected with an extremely long life and painful knowledge of things that should not be known. The poison is thought to be some synthesis of Nodeslug slime and it’s own poisonous venom. Poisoned Pepel will stand permanently in the spot they were stung. Immediate and grotesque swelling will occur. Retaining only the ability to speak, the poisoned gain access to the vast amounts of information and knowledge contained within the Nodeslugs system. Apparently this knowledge is so profound it causes incredible pain. The poisoned never share what they know and ask to be killed to end their suffering. A few sentient creatures have survived such a sting. They are known as the Vitaliks. ##### How rare is it? Common near PPepepolis, the Vitemu aren’t the most spectacular creature in the Zoo. The Topheil are quite obsessed with its abilities though. The Topheil have tried on numerous occasions to poison themselves with the Vitemu stinger in hopes that one of them will survive to become a Vitalyk and use that knowledge to restore the Topheil society. They have yet to be successful. - - - ### W. - - - #### Wagmee *Contributed by Zeke* ``` Fuzzy, cute-as-hell, farting fuzzball ``` ##### What does it look like? A pink and purple fuzzball with big bright eyes that would likely be a pet except for its incredible odor. ##### Where can it be found? A stupid little creature, the Wagmee seem to crave the proximity of its predators, like the Degendespar, Pterofractal and Ennjinni. The never seem to understand that most predators could care less that they are cute-looking and if they didn't emit such an annoying gas they would be a popular pet for the upper-crust Pepel. ##### What abilities / talents does it have? Other than looking incredibly cute, the Wagmee are prodigious farters. ##### How rare is it? Nearly extinct as the Wagmee place themselves at the very teeth of their predators and yet never developed any natural defenses against said predators. - - - ### X. - - - ### Y. - - - #### YuFren *Contributed by Default Triangle* ``` Walking, talking mushrooms that wish to get to know you. ``` ##### What do YuFren look like? YuFren stand at an impressive 8 feet tall and lumber about in mushroom-like bodies; when standing still, they are indistinguishable from giant mushrooms. They also have massive arms that they use to, inadvertently, squeeze the life out of someone. ##### Where are YuFren usually found? They can be found living near yield farms and are known to approach farmers, using their friendly demeanours in the hopes of gaining some of the crop. They don't often succeed however as they can sometimes be too friendly, hugging those they approach and suffocating them. ##### What talents or abilities do the YuFren possess? They secrete an airborne toxin that makes people near them extremely fond of them. Although they are friendly in nature themselves and don't necessarily lure people towards them on purpose, there are hundreds of incidents of farmers being ripped from life by the YuFren's embrace. They are strong creatures, really strong, and are usually found living in large groups, although they have been known to approach farms individually. ##### How rare are the YuFren? They are not overly common, but can easily be found if someone were to look for them. - - - ### Z. - - - #### The Jalo’Kivi *Contribued by D_D* ##### What does it look like? They present themselves in the form of octahedrons upon “birth” and as they age they grow various “branches”. They are theorized to be used as a form of communication, a sign of age, and to ward off any who may try to harm them. Jalo’Kivi are made up of a mineral like substance, in which they crumble into dust upon their “death”. When they “die”, they release a blindingly bright light and disintegrate into into a dust made up of the same minerals they are seemingly formed from. The mineral is found all throughout the plains, marking the countless life cycles these creatures have had over countless blocks. Much like their death, their birth is just as puzzling. The Jalo life cycle begins underneath the soil of the plains. They force themselves from the soil, slowly but surely. Once they fully emerge they joyously thrust themselves into the air as they shine their first brilliant burst of light. Observing the first flight of a young Jalo is not only a beautiful sight, but regarded as a blessing. The unique markings and colors they develop seem to be related to be specific region of the plains they emerge. Many Pepel who follow the Old Ways claim that the rituals they are most attracted to determine their physical appearance. ##### Where can it be found? They can be found on the rare, windswept plains of Pepolis. They drift upon the eternal breeze as they light up the sky with magnificent displays of bent light and swirling colors. While these plains are a rarity among the diverse biomes of Pepolis, they cover a large enough swath of land to have distinct regions within them. What abilities / talents does it have? They’ve been observed to be extremely defensive of one another, especially of their young. The young Jalo are always observed in a group of 3 or more. They are also often seen accompanied by one of the larger elder Jalo, who are regarded as the most dangerous of the species. They will display aggressive behavior and even attack those who they deem a threat. Their branches are sharp enough to pierce through metal rated for use in the hulls of vessels able to withstand the harsh environment of deep chainspace travel. In addition to this, they have the ability to blind would-be attackers with an intense burst of light. This ability is drastically amplified when in a group. This ability also seems to be something that they do for entertainment or possibly communication, often coordinating bursts of light in a beautiful display. The Pepel native to the plains often observe this and treat it as a spiritual experience. Some consider this as the Oracle itself communicating through these magnificent beings. ##### How rare is it? Extremely rare and only known to exist upon plains specific to Pepolis. Amoung the Old Ways Pepel, they are considered to be made of the souls of Pepel who have passed on. Once a Pepel’s body is honored and placed into the ancient waterways underneath their planet, they are thought to eventually reach the center of their world. It is believed by the followers of the Old Ways that the Oracle uses their bodies to form the Jalo’Kivi. These creatures are highly respected and protected, even among those Pepel who do not consider themselves religious. Many see them as one of the unofficial symbols of Pepolis. - - -
