# Course Outline - Computer Engineering (TEJ2O) This course introduces students to computer systems, networking, and interfacing, as well as electronics and robotics. Students will assemble, repair, and configure computers with various types of operating systems and application software. Students will design small electronic circuits and write computer programs to control simple peripheral devices or robots. Students will also develop an awareness of related environmental and societal issues, and will learn about secondary and postsecondary pathways and career opportunities in computer technology. ## Course Topics Some of these topics will be covered concurrently, due to the nature of the school schedule this year. - Foundations of Programming - Analog Circuits - Digital Circuits - Computer Hardware - Operating Systems - Computer Networks - Computers and Society - Robotics and/or Game Programming ## Evaluation For details, please see the [Marking Model](https://www.dstewart.ca/ics-docs/common/admin/marking-model.html) document. ## Assignment Deadlines While there will be due dates associated with each assignment, submissions and revisions will be accepted at any time. However, once the posted deadline has passed, students may only revisit *Extended* and *Advanced* level questions on an overdue assignment once all *Standard* level questions have been completed for all currently posted assignments. ## Absences As per school protocol, absences must be authorized by a parent either by sending in a note or calling the school. A student who is absent the day of a test for a valid reason will write the test upon returning. A mark of zero will be assigned if the absence is unauthorized. If a student is absent on an assignment due date for a valid reason, it should be submitted upon returning. If the absence is unauthorized, marks may be deducted from the assignment. ## Collaboration on Assignments and Plagiarism Unless explicitly stated, all assignments are to be done individually. While students are encouraged to help each other out, anything submitted should fully be the work of the student. Any content that appears to be copy-pasted will receive a mark of zero. This includes copying from other students, or from a webpage. In some instances it will be appropriate to take a direct quote from a website. This is fine, but sources must be cited.
