# Order of The Way **Origin:** Originating and primarily located in the world of Eberron, the order had many guardian monks who travel the many roads of the many worlds. ## Activities and Goals: Their duty was to correct major "imbalances" - to prevent the collapse of not only civilization, but reality itself. The Monastary at Cannith monitored for major disturbances in the inter-planar ether and would dispatch a Brother to trouble spots across the planes. These missions were a culmination of a monk's life and are usually a one-way trip. They spread their teachings during their travels. Guardians of the Way: * Were considered natural leaders, peacekeepers, and mediators in disputes. * They were rigorously trained in using their weapons, as a master would learn an art form. * There is inherent worth in all life. A being's final ask before death is a solemn bond for the one who takes it. * Good, Evil, Law, and Chaos are necessary forces in equal nature. Any tip of the scales into one of the four results in dangerous extremes. * Each aspect must be retained in balance to maintain the status quo, so long as the "wheel" surrounding the natural order of things does not become imbalanced due to unnatural forces. * Do not wish ill on those they did not know. * Be concerned with your mastery of your own well-being and that of the organizations that aid you. * Act in good manner to allies and friends. ## Ranks Ranks are typically not earned by virtue of skill, but rather by demonstrated ability to mentor others and serve others. - Brother (Level 1) - Disciple (100 Converts) - Journeyman (250 Converts) - Master (1000 Converts) - Grand Master (5000 Converts) ## Abilities **Brother:** You have access to any monastery of the order, where you can receive food and lodging for free. **Disciple:** You have learned to expand your mind and sense the ethereal. You are able to feel disturbances in the aether, though not their origin or cause. Once per day you can cast [Augery](https://5e.tools/spells.html#augury_phb). **Journeyman:** You have learned to tap into the physical reality of the world around you. You can spend 3 Ki to cast [Dimension Door](https://5e.tools/spells.html#dimension%20door_phb) once per day. This appears as if your body distorts into a ripple in reality, and appearing at your destination out of ripple. **Order of the Way Ritual Casting:** A Master is able to perform ritual casting. All ritual casting times are increased to a total of 4 hours. The monk must be in a meditative state for those 4 hours, during which you are both **concentrating** and **unconscious**. You must maintain your concentration for the entirety of the ritual. If it is broken, you must make a DC 15 Wisdom save, taking 3d6 Psychic damage on fail, or half on a successful save. **Master:** You have learned to reach beyond to the other planes to find answers. Once per day you can spend 4 Ki to ritual cast [Contact Other Plane](https://5e.tools/spells.html#contact%20other%20plane_phb). Also, Contact Other Plane uses your Wisdom attribute for saves instead of Intelligence. **Grand Master:** Your very being has transcended and become one with the flows of reality. You can now spend 6 Ki to ritual cast [Plane Shift](https://5e.tools/spells.html#plane%20shift_phb). You can take only one other willing creature with you. You can prepare this spell in advance to be used against a single unwilling creature, or to be used on yourself and one willing creature. You gain 1 level of exhaustion when you release the prepared spell. The prepared spell dissapates after 1 day.
