# Topic: Upcoming election logistics
**Description:**
In preparation for the upcoming NDC elections, we are seeking community input on key aspects of the election process. This includes defining who qualifies as an "active voter", determining how to handle vote buying or fraudulent activities, and deciding on the requirements for bonding or staking $NEAR tokens. The goal of this poll is to ensure that our election process is transparent, fair, and representative of our community's values. Your participation is crucial as it will help shape the rules and procedures for our elections, and ultimately, the future of the NDC community. Please take a moment to share your thoughts and contribute to this important decision-making process.
Total Possible Voters (IAH FV): ~3000
Minimum voters needed to pass quorum: 500

## Question 1: Voter Registration Cut Off
**Description:**
We're considering a cut-off date for voter registration to streamline the NDC elections. This date could range from the election day to a month prior. Your input will help balance inclusivity with practical election management.
**Responses:** (choose one)
- **0 days** Even during the election, people should be able to register and vote.
- **1 day** Voters can register up to 1 day before the election starts (Sept. 7th).
- **7 days** Voters can register up to a week before the election starts (Sept 1st).
- **30 days** Voters can register up to a month before the election starts (August 8th)
## Question 2: Who should have the authority to be an active voter in v1 NDC Elections
**Description:**
Which requirements for a community member to be considered an 'active voter' in the NDC elections seem reasonable? Should it be based on transaction history, interaction with the EasyPoll system, the minting of an SBT/Badge, or something else? Your opinion matters as we shape our democratic process.
Out of all the IAH verified accounts (~3000), at least 500 of them (~16%) need to participate in the election for the results to be made officially valid. The more barriers to participation, the less potential voters, but the more secure the election might be.
**Responses:** (choose any)
- **Account has > x Transactions** a certain number of days before Sept 8th.
- **NDC Official EasyPoll interactions** (Vote in IAH gated Polls to be eligible).
- **Mint Voter SBT** for Voter registration (v1Voter SBT Comission).
- **Bond** a certain amount of $NEAR tokens to be able to vote, slashed if malicious.
- **Kudos** (reputation system, not yet released, planned for next gov cycle?)
- **Trust Graph** (not yet released)
## Question 3: How much $NEAR should be bonded?
**Description:**
Bonding refers to depositing a certain amount of $NEAR that can get "slashed" or forfeited if a user is proven to be acting maliciously. The risk of getting a bond slashed can deter and mitigate the effects of an attacker, but still adds a barrier that might lower voter participation.
The amount of $NEAR to be bonded can affect the security of the voting process and the accessibility for members to participate. A higher bond value can potentially deter malicious activities but may also create a higher barrier for entry. On the other hand, a lower bond value (or no bond) can encourage more participation but may also increase the risk of malicious activities.
Do you think we should use bonding in the v1 NDC Elections to register voters?
What do you think is a reasonable amount of $NEAR to be bonded?
**Responses:** (chose any)
- **No Bond**
- **Less than .1 $NEAR**
- **.1 $NEAR**
- **1 $NEAR**
- **5 $NEAR**
- **10 $NEAR**
- **Greater than 10 $NEAR**
## Question 4: How should we handle vote buying or fraudulent election activities?
**Description:**
Vote buying and fraudulent voting activities undermine the integrity of our democratic process. How should we handle these activities if they occur? Your input will help us establish a fair and effective system of accountability.
**Responses:** (select any that apply)
- **Assign Dings** (Negative Reputation) to their account, which could affect their standing in the community and their ability to participate in future votes.
- **Blacklist NEAR Account** Add the malicious account to a public list of known troublemakers.
- **Revoke their OG SBT** removing them from being a Nominee in v1 elections.
## Question 5: Rehabilitation and Reintegration
**Description:**
If someone has been found guilty of vote buying or fraud, what steps (if any) should be required to take in order to be allowed to participate in voting again. This could include apologizing to the community, demonstrating understanding of why their actions were wrong, or other steps.
Eventually the Transparency Commission will handle these cases, but we can give them things to think about.
**Responses:** (short answer)
## Question 6: How Many Transactions to be Active?
**Description:**
Transactions are not always a good metric
Do you think we should use bonding in the v1 NDC Elections to register voters?
**Responses:**(select 1)
