# KNI Design Brief This is collection of WIP diagrams put together from an initial design. It represents only a snapshot of the design during the initial phases of discussion. > The decision to have the container runtime execute the CNI plugins was made some time ago, we wish to look at that decision again and decide if that is still in the best interest of Kubernetes networking. A discussion around the CNI 2.0 has been ongoing and one of the suggestions is to move it closer to Kubernetes.
