# Switch between Private/Public Team

Public teams are good for sharing knowledge to the public, while private teams keep your sensitive data only to the eyes of the team members.

However, There may be times you would want to switch from Private team to Public, or the other way around. For example,

- As a public team, you'd like to upgrade to Prime to protect sensitive data;
- As a private team, you decide it's time to open up to the public so that everyone can access your knowledge.

If you are an **Admin** or **Billing Admin** to your team, then you can switch this setting by following the guide below.

## Switch from Public team to a Private one

1. Click the <i class="ui-menu-fa-icon fa fa-cog"></i> icon on the sidebar in your Team Space, the icon is right to "Team space." Then, click "<i class="ui-menu-fa-icon fa fa-cog"></i> Team settings."


2. Scroll down to the "Danger Zone," click the "Change to Private team" button.


3. A modal will appear to remind you how changing from Public team to Private would effect the permissions to your notes. Choose one method. You have to enter the team name to proceed.


4. Done.

## Switch from Private team to a Public one

1. Click the <i class="ui-menu-fa-icon fa fa-cog"></i> icon on the sidebar in your Team Space, the icon is right to "Team space." Then, click "<i class="ui-menu-fa-icon fa fa-cog"></i> Team settings."


2. Scroll down to the "Danger Zone," click the "Change to Public team" button.


3. A modal will appear to remind you changing to Public team would make all notes published. You have to enter the team name to proceed.


4. Done.
