How to merge accounts?

You may have signed up for more than one HackMD account and created notes in each of them. If you would like to merge these accounts, you will be able to log into HackMD using any of these methods and access all of the notes that you have created. Here's how to do it.

  • The image file may be corrupted
  • The server hosting the image is unavailable
  • The image path is incorrect
  • The image format is not supported

If the email address you used to create your account is the same as the one associated with your third-party platform account, then the account you created with that email will be automatically merged when you log in with the third-party platform, and you won't need to manually link the accounts.

Limitation

Accounts cannot be merged during the billing cycle. Please cancel your subscription and wait for it to expire before merging.

Please follow the steps below.

  1. Log in to your HackMD account with your email address.
  2. Click on your profile picture and select "Settings," or go directly to the settings page.

    • The image was uploaded to a note which you don't have access to
    • The note which the image was originally uploaded to has been deleted

  3. Scroll down to "Sign-in Methods" and link your account with different platforms.

  4. Go back to the main page of HackMD, and your notes will be merged.

Once the merge is complete, you can log in with either your email address or a third-party platform account (currently supported platforms include Facebook, Twitter, GitHub, Dropbox, and Google).
