# 2026 Volunteer Grid

To sign up for a shift, add your name in the staffing grid below. Then, add your name to the Contact Info section further below, along with whatever contact info you're comfortable sharing.

Here is a description of the duties:

* **Emcee**: Help the speaker get mic'd. Briefly introduce the speaker.
* **Time keeper**: Watch the clock and flash cards up as the speaker's time slot nears its end.
* **Mic runner**: Run a microphone around the room during Q+A. Can be done by the emcee in a pinch.
* **Door keeper**: Keep the ULB doors from slamming loudly. Turn people away if we're full.
* **Extra hand**: Sometimes we need an extra mic runner or door keeper. Sometimes we send somebody for coffee.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

* Please arrive 5-10 minutes before your shift starts.
* Leave yourself free in either the 11:00-13:00 or 13:00-15:00 time slot. There is no lunch break at FOSDEM. You need to eat.
* Shaun will arrive early for setup and stay late for teardown. You're welcome to join, but we don't have to write that down.
