Illinois oral histories seminar Katie: interested in student publishing and student activism Lael: 2021 hope we can grow SEC in 2021, so much where SEC should be a lead, if we get grant, workshops helping support on how to document their work, have tools to facilitate convos for engaging w university archivists, documenting the now bergis, residences for archive practitioners to carve time for thinking about supporting student activists, thinking about decolonizing instruction practices; podcast; fellow at UMD documenting amherst uprising; leigh uni documentary project; starting to see slow fruits of our labor. bergis archivists supporting activists, 100+. SEC as braintrust for some of this work. goals and objectives for SEC for 2021. can be supporting projects with grant or not. facilitating relationships with student activists/activism. orgs on campus aren't always sanctioned/funded. meeting with HBCU members. Jessica: different freedom to make decisions at private vs public schools, dont want to put students in compromising positions, could be more outspoken after graduating Lael: discussion with student activism toolkit committee about anonymizing contributions, what can we do to protect students; starting to see scrubbing photos; descriptions of photos but not writing names. Sarah: main point of contact for students and groups Lael: something you wanna be a part of, not a heavy obligation, but creates lots of work to do committee reports; top priorities? Casey: basic archival quesitons to answer about Taxonomy, Accessioning etc., Oral Histories Katie: How to get started? Lael: With grants will build out platform with Omeka S.
