- Morgan: would be hard to decide who gets it without speakers
- Aaron: something elegant about neither charging nor paying speakers
- Morgan: there are a lot of tech conferences that don't charge you $500
- Dmitri: If possible, we can save it for the in person
- Ian: is the in person conference still an unconference
- Morgan: we had talked about doing decentralized focus groups and an in person conference, it would be nice to have time for the focus groups to present at the in person conference
- Danny: We're not certain on the funding yet, but the first bit is going to be an online unconference, and we are interest in being able to support the things that will come out of this. My preference would be to pitch and say, there was this awesome thing and we want to do more with it.
- Danny: he's talking with Boris and Holke at Protocol Labs about new funding models, and we might use this money in this first batch to experiement with retroactive funding models / hypercerts to support decentralized social works. Maybe we can announce with some hoohah some funding programs at the conference, here are the things we want to happen.
- Morgan: Is OpenCollective set up to handle donations yet? If we want an actual graphic designer to make somethign for us, we would need to comission something now. We can draw something up ourselves, but it might not look professional.
- Ian: given the short timeline, it might be easier to do something homegrown

- Dmitri: It would be an awesome statement to only use fediverse.

- Aaron: we can have a cool poster that folks can share on centralized social, but point everyone to our fediverse account.
- Morgan: plus then we don't need multiple social accounts
- Danny: how are we going to frame this? There are a lot of people who think they invented / are in charge of the fediverse. How are we going to reach out to the wider community?

- Danny: matthew wellenwag at wordpress / tumblr has talked about AP, it would be great to invite them because they are not directly involved yet. Bluntly, Christine and Dmitri and Morgan bring in some folks, how do we describe the community we arlready are to folks.
