# PriceRoll: Short-Term Crypto Price Prediction + Dice

*What is PriceRoll?*

PriceRoll is a game that combines:

- **Short-Term Price Predictions**: Players can make a guess as to whether the price of several cryptos (BTC, ETH, LTC, etc.) will increase or decrease in the next few minutes
- **Provably Fair Dice**: While making a price prediction, users can roll a 100 side dice and win a prize

PriceRoll is a unique game that combines short-term price prediction (price changes over 2-4 minutes on average) with a dice game.

## Dice

Players can make bets in a provably fair dice game (that is combined with short-term crypto price predictions, see below).

To play dice, players:

- Select their potential win percentage. Lower win percentages will have higher payouts.

- To win, players must roll below the number shown in the DApp. For example, if a player selects 65%, they must roll a 64 or below to win the prize.

## Short-Term Price Predictions

In addition to rolling the dice, players can guess whether a crypto's price (BTC, LTC, ETH, etc.) will be higher or lower after each 2 - 4 minute round.

If players guess the price movement correctly (above or below the starting price) and win their dice roll, they will win bonus ETH.

If the price does not change they will not receive bonus ETH.

## Prize Payouts

In general, players will win:

- ETH for successful rolls

- Bonus ETH for making a correct crypto price prediction; however, players will only be eligible to win the bonus ETH if their dice roll is successful (see table below for winning conditions)

### Fetching Accurate Crypto Prices

To fetch coin prices for all our price prediction DApps, we use Oraclize, a framework allowing smart contracts to query data from external sources.

Oraclize is used by a range of blockchain companies to secure off-chain data, including Axie Infinity (to determine Axie breeding results).

Note: Oraclize is now named Provable.

Oraclize provides verifiable proof for every fetch, so anyone can check the validity of price data. Our contracts set the maximum security level for Oraclize (this comes with an overhead price for every fetch).

CryptoCompare is the provider for all of our price prediction DApps.

CoinMarketCap has a 5 minute latency meaning less precision in price checking.
