# Algobots DAO Manifesto

Characters and brands motivate, inspire, and entertain us. Consider the world of Marvel superheroes, or Disney princesses; the characters we love feel like a part of us.

These brands are also incredibly valuable. In 2020 alone, Disney generated $65b of revenues. That value comes from the passion and enthusiasm of the brands' millions of fans. However, at present the fans share none of that upside. The communities around these brands are dismissed as "consumers", rather than recognized as active co-creators of the brands' value.

The decentralized revolution offers an opportunity to change that! We imagine a world where everyone who supports a brand -- whether as an artist, a content strategist, or a passionate fan -- earns a share of the upside. We imagine a future where questions of canon are settled by collective governance, rather than disconnected corporate executives. And we imagine a world where Fox never, ever, cancelled Firefly.

We're exploring creating a decentralized brand with Algobots, an adorable set of 500 friendly robots created by Stina Jones. Each Algobot is represented by a NFT, which means that fans and collectors can canonically own the individual Algobots. However, with only 500 Algobot NFTs, directly owning an Algobot will be out of reach for many.

Therefore, we'll launch Algobots DAO, a decentralized organization for advancing the Algobots brand. Algobots DAO will be governed by holders of $BOTS, an ERC-20 token issued by the DAO. Holders of $BOTS will be able to govern DAO decisions, including how to spend the treasury funds, and what partnerships or opportunities the DAO should pursue. Furthermore, revenues earned by the DAO will be used to buy & burn $BOTS tokens, ensuring that any profits are equitably distributed across all DAO participants.

The $BOTS tokens will be distributed over the coming years to Algobot NFT holders, DAO contributors, and of course Stina. The token will allow anyone who supports Algobots to get a piece of the network, and all of the upside that it generates. The $BOTS token serves as an incentive coordination point for everyone involved in Algobots, ensuring that a rising tide lifts all bots.
