Giveth was founded in 2016 by a group of altruistic whitehat hackers, on a mission to transform the way public goods are created & funded by supporting nonprofit projects in becoming DAOs.

Anyone can [create a project and start raising funds](https://giveth.io) on Mainnet & Gnosis Chain, with no fees or intermediaries. 100% of each donation goes directly to the project and donors are rewarded with $GIV.

GIV can be used for Giveth governance, such as in the GIVgarden, a decentralized governance platform, built on Gnosis Chain, where DAO members can fund proposals they believe in through conviction voting.
