- Two different ways to make a garden: 1) buy tools, soil, seeds, etc. and grow it yourself and learn along the way and grow with garden, or 2) buy the pre-bought flowers, tree, etc. and plant it, but these often die quickly since you don't grow with the garden
- $CHILI has created the "giant gardening space" and invited "all their favorite gardeners" and provided tools, and then the community gets to build the garden together and see how the ecosystem flourishes and becomes a **portrait of the community building a community garden**
- **Garden** where we can see how entities blossom and interact and intertwine in a "semantically rich way" on chain
- MetaCartel has an ecosystem of communities but nothing official to link together — community garden can link and connect the communities within the ecosystem and provide tools for everyone to build together
- $CHILI and community garden can be what aligns with community first community building
- $CHILI is on Polygon initially
- Idea isn't necessarily to have a liquidity event, the goal is to stake it to get Roasted Chili (adding dimension of time and *proof of community/proof of curation*)
- $CHILI tokens means you've created value in the MetaCartel community, Roasted Chili means you pay it forward

- Incentivizing paying it forward to the community and ecosystem

- Playing the game and investing *back* into the ecosystem
- Investing back into the community and ecosystem and use Roasted Chili for things such as a MetaFactory drop (Roasted Chili over certain amount → token gated access to a FIERY drop 🔥)
- Roasted Chili seasoned in a PoolTogether pool → seasoned Roasted Chili into a DAO → DAO curates the NFTs that are dropped in a PoolTogether lotto
- NFTs are created by artists (Felipe, Penguin, Fine Pixel Society, other community artists within art DAOs within DAOhaus )
- *Seasoned Chilis* has so much potential — communities able to extend and create on Roasted Chilis
- Communities create and extend Roasted Chili

- All the visible prizes on the wall don't have to be cheap prizes → community building prizes and each community is making their own prizes and ecosystem is building together
- Community garden is a reward in itself

- Adds complexity but layers of value and extension
- Adds components such as time:
- Staking over time
- Creation time
- Commitment to a DAO
- Value in the community creation and extension can be represented in the prizes
- "Revealing community flows"
- Reading and analyzing the streams
- Putting radioactive isotope in blood → see what's happening in the body
- Use these experiments to learn and see what community interaction is like

- Centered in community rewards and alignment, not having immediate financial value attached to start so this may offset some cynicism
- Gardens and plants
- Don't require money, require sunlight and love
- More expensive plants and trees doesn't mean it'll grow better
- Flowers and plants will grow based on effort as opposed to money going into it
- "Not a liquidity event, an alignment event"

- On outside looking in it can be sometimes difficult to get in anymore
- How do we open the gates even more?
- How do you keep the standards high while also making this permissionless where anyone can enter?
- Without a liquidity event (and by airdropping to the MetaCartel ecosystem) are we making the walls of the garden higher?
- Does this make it easier or harder to get into the MetaCartel ecosystem?
- Not a financial token → mint more tokens and provide to communities who are interested in co-creating and joining the larger $CHILI community
- Allows for teaming up and co-creating across communities (to build bridges)
- Membrane → this approach doesn't make the wall higher but it makes it visible
- Approaching a more transparent and equitable design

- Allows for emergence but this is also a negative in that things often take a long time to happen due to lack of hierarchy in DAO structures
- *Fall back on missions and processes to guide decision making*
- As $CHILI is so open, would this be difficult with $CHILI
- Gardens will grow at the rate they will grow
- Questions around DAO growth — still experimenting with finding the growth curve with DAOs
- Excitement can only carry and sustain a community for so long. Value will need to be reached at some point and this is often a tipping point for DAOs
- Since there isn't a direct financial connection, more control in $CHILI and the **value is access**
- "No one cares if Chuck E. Cheese prints more tickets." → Allows for judgment calls that support building access and community
- Signifier: How much effort are you putting into community building and helping DAOs grow?
- This has nothing to do with scarcity as opposed to needing scarcity

- "Very few things move in spirals as well as a DAO does" but we still like to measure things in straight lines
- Lots of society is optimized for linear flow and organization, but DAOs are a different model
- Room for iteration and experimentation
- **Criticism on Community Meme Contests**
- Criticism is if these projects were more "long form" instead of short term memes benefitting a small circle of people, could have more "meme power" per project and can support a larger community over time instead of a spike in interest in the short term
- Move toward creating value over time
- Long enough timeline → community interconnection across projects
- Creating a gift economy around the token and community
- This makes the group more visible
- Goal is to expand in group into the out group and create a *gift economy* around the token
- Invitation as well as a signifier of friendship "DAOplemat"
- DAOplemats, communities of communities, DAOs of DAOs to create cross-sections
- Secondary and tertiary DAOs that can help the core DAO achieve goals and mission

- What is the admin control over issuance?
- Progressive decentralization approach
- MetaCartel DAO → $CHILI token holders over time
- Communities can grow everywhere!
- MetaCartel will now exist across Polygon, Mainnet, xDAI (need access to EVM)
- Ultimate bridge between these networks → leave the space and communities will come
- More complicated but pays off in the long run in creating more bridges and crossover across communities
- This forces problem solving around creating cross-chain collaboration

## Conclusions

- "Seasons of Seasoning"
- Seasonal approach creates process where people know when and how to contribute
- No linear path, so seasons "help digest the complexity of a DAO" and streamline contribution in decentralized communities
- "Name the strange attractor" — until this happens, the essence of the pattern is invisible
- Seasons allow people to look at things at the same time
- Simultaneous, multiple perspectives
- Acts of descriptive observation
- MetaCartel communities create enough value so that the token doesn't *have* to be financial — how far can we go down this road and how much value can be passed back?
