--- title: Staking on Octant tags: Grants, Octant --- ## Octant Announcement After a long slow burn the last couple weeks has seen a flurry of activity on the Octant front and I am pleased to say that Public HAUS has been accepted as aproject eligible for funding in Octant's next funding round, with a specified goal of creating an Accountability App for the PH. Here's a little info about Octant: [Announcing Octant](https://golem.foundation/2023/08/08/announcing-octant.html) I can't claim to have a clue how the math works but essentially Golem Foundation has staked 100,000 Eth and (through that math I don't understand) a portion of that is sent to people who stake GLM tokens into the Octant contract. Every epoch the Eth staking rewards Golem earns, are sent *proportional* to the amount of GLM staked. Right now a little over 14% of the total GLM is staked. I don't think that translates to 14% of the reward being sent over but it is used as a variable in their equation. The eth rewards are distributed to the GLM stakers, who then have the option to claim the rewards or donate to the projects. I'm sure there are more than a few stakers that are in it for themselves, but I also think there are a large number of stakers that are there to support public goods. ## Staking on Octant 1. go to [octant.app](https://octant.app) 2. Click [Earn] to Stake Golem. 3. Click on [Projects]. 4. Click on the [heart] in top left corner of project card for any projects you support for funding. 5. Clicking [Allocate] will now show a list of all the projects you "hearted" The heart was your vote. eg, here are the projects I am supporting for epoch 1 ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/ryfYivilT.png) *notice in that photo that there is a funding threshold, meaning there is a non zero chance that we don't recive funding if that threshold isn't met, meaning not enough hearts.* 6. An epoch lasts for three months. At the end of the epoch the staking rewards from Golem, are distributed to the *stakers*. 7. Stakers then have the option of taking all/some/none of the staking rewards themselves and/or contributing to the projects you support. I've used the app a little bit, the UX was a little weird at first but now I really like how clean it is and simple to navigate. ![](https://hackmd.io/_uploads/BJLr0vsgp.png) ### Discourse Forum Post: [https://discuss.octant.app/t/public-haus-decentralized-governance-of-the-daohaus-protocol/83?u=boiler_chris](https://discuss.octant.app/t/public-haus-decentralized-governance-of-the-daohaus-protocol/83?u=boiler_chris)
