Talking about Anticaptiture lead to democracy, which lead to scale and then competition and now dualilty. Do we compete or coordinate? Is it black and white? What about duality and non-duality? That wont get us very far. ### Duality and DAOs How will Web3/DAO space allow us to experiment with those alternatives and move beyond dualist thinking? Is that pluralism? DAO value prop - No individual is in control. Organically, if power is distributed, decisions that do get made are an agrigate of everyones' decisioan. It's worth me sharing my opinion, because my voice does have power in this more pluralistic view. Different perspectives from all over the place Amorphous blob of what is consensus and reality A DAO could evolve into anything, including duality and dictatorships. The DAO code shouldn't be opinionated. We should be writing into the code that forces pluralist. But it's kinda already there as a blank state. DAOs priortitize the autonomy of the individual We might consider avoiding creating rules and constraints on duality and instead maximize autonomy. More diffusion and dispersal of information that's shared collectively in DAOs. We are a culture that values individuals and the collective. What is that balance so we can have both? ### Sliding Scales of Gradience The polarity is available and needed because of language. Brillance is navigatable after deep understanding. We can keep contraditions. We don't need oppositions. Don't take that for granted. Something momentous is possible. There's sliding scales of gradience, like how competitive or colaborative, virtical and horizontal scale. Consider our limited cognition as individuals and collectives. Witnessing products, teams and communities with Ethereum, and we don't know how to universally agree on definitions. Sometimes we compete and sometimes we collaborate, but web3 observations are so different from web2. Web3 is an educational operations space. ### Universal Definitions Right or wrong ways of doing things: Tyranny or morality or efficiency or optimization Univeral Definitions - striving for clairity and variability what is and what is of Universality of DAO templates or what a DAO is Shall we welcome the lack of clarity? is that a sacrifice of efficiency? Should we try to do things wrong to unlearn and discover new understanding? ### Fidelity and Consensus [Conways Law](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conway's_law) - organization recapitulate organization structures that it forms proposal process vs list of agents' expressed preferences individual level, we know what's in our understanding and can have a higher fidelity list of preferences. larger consesus, doesn't have the high fidelity, but includes all our subjected preferences with inner subjective aggregation of all those subjective experiences Measuring the Shoreline and fideltity How self managment and organization structures relate to consensus and fidelity consensus makes a duality - yay or nay What is the non dual proposal vote if it's not yes or no? democratic consensus model forces duality? is it always best? the subtle discussion, with iterative process, happens before the vote fidelity and compromise Integrative decision making models: - integrate as much as you can in the proposal - all the tensions can't be included - too many compromises waters down the proposal The camel is the horse the committee approved. DAOhaus compensation can be an example because there's variability and flexibility. Beyond dualities: - what are DAO proposals if not dualities? - theoretically can have multiple options? - strategic voting issues - quadratic funding - oposite of dualities - can have a large set of options to choose from - allocate your resources towards your favorites - aggregation is end state Yes and no is the simplest version. Do complexities make the problems worse? Complexities create a specialized class who can navigate (lawyers). ### Apetures of Understanding Find balance within the gradients and iteratively modulate that based on the current state.
