# Warcamp Onboarding Needs ###### tags: `onboarding` ::: spoiler Rangers - Amos # The Search for New Rangers 2022 This is a document to lay out pathways to new Ranger contributors in 2022, following the [current HandBook workflow](https://daohaus.club/docs/handbook/contributors/get-started). 1. Select your Circle 2. Introduce yourself 3. Start your 1st task 4. Level up! For items 1 & 2, it's quite simple and for potential contributors to complete. Once they introduced themselves on Discord, we can reach out to talk to them. ## Who are we looking for? Currently, we do mainly content marketing. We need content writers to write articles, tweets, as well as documentation. Hence, the ideal contributor we are looking for should be someone that: 1. Can write long & short form content 2. Intermediate understanding of Web3, L2s and DAOs 3. Basic understanding of DAOhaus 4. Willing to commit X hours for the next 4 weeks (any number >5 is fine really, we just need commitment) We'll definitely welcome everyone who is keen to contribute. However, when we need to prioritise, these are criterias we look out for. ## How do we onboard / ensure a fit? In order for contributors & Rangers to assess the team fit, we should give potential contributors tasks to work on. To ensure sufficient time & experience to find a fit, we should give this process 3-4 weeks of consistent (not full time) commitment. If there is a fit, the Rangers can then discuss and upgrade the contributor to the Retroactive Commitment Track. There are 2 ways which potential contributors can find tasks to do. ### 1. Self-serve: Public Task Board First, they should find tasks on a public task board. To enable potential contributors can quickly start work with a manageable learning curve, these tasks should be: 1. Well-scoped 2. Simple 3. Not time-sensitive 4. Representative of actual Rangers work, but lower intensity To start, here are 3 examples: 1. Create a Meme 2. Create a Tweet thread based on Docs content 3. Create an article about DAOs or DAOhaus DAOs ### 2. Shadow a Ranger Second, if they are unable to find a task that fits, or if Rangers cannot create tasks quickly enough, they can opt to shadow a Ranger (Bau/Amos/Spencer/whoever). The objective is for them to show up for meetings, take up simple tasks that come up, or collaborate with Rangers on complex tasks. Hopefully, after 3-4 weeks, the Rangers can do a vote & see whether there is a fit and if we'd like them to be compensated retroactively. ::: ::: spoiler ### Alchemists - Cerez 1. Are there goals or objectives that your circle is not meeting? 2. Is there a need to onboard more contributors into your circle? 3. What objectives are you failing to execute on that require your circles attention? - Going to be brutally honest here. Generally, we have trouble focusing on the core platform. Considering it's overall use and importance, we devote pretty low resources to executing on improvements. We're good at building MVPs, we're good at planning sprints, but we have a lot of trouble focusing and doing the boring work. - This includes code review, QA, bug fixes, even implementation of core features. Very few people want to touch the code if it doesn't implement some new Web3 protocol. - I sometimes find it challenging to juggle the workload of these apps, with the constant battles to keep people focused (not that anyone asked for this). I'm optimistic that we can get better at this in the future. The plans we have currently are great. I'm hoping things will be different this time around. - Also, outside of Magesmiths, we talk a lot about partnerships we could make, but very few people write the proposals to make that happen. I think things have improved there as well, but still worth mentioning. - Also, I didn't see a Dev Rel role in the drop-down. We'll need that too. 4. What processes and tools should a new contributor be comfortable with when joining your circle? - Provided this about frontend devs. This is what I think they need. - Advanced JS skills. - Med CSS, HTML - Med React, Typescript, Redux. - We should be willing to take in people who are willing to aspire to this. It doesn't need to be something they already know. (with the exception of a decent amount of JS 5. What skills are required to execute on your Circles objectives? - Subgraph Development - React / JS - Fronted Dev - Typescript - BizDev 6. Why is your circle struggling to meet its objectives? - All of the above 7. Is there anything else you would like us to know? (culture, must haves, etc.) - More than anything, we need focus. We do need devs; let's get on that. But allowing people to focus without a major distraction each quarter would go a long way. It doesn't cost us anything either. ::: ::: spoiler ## Warcamp Needs from Camp Fire April 8, 2022 ### Magesmiths #### Developer Relations - write developer documentation - engage with devs in the open contributor/boost dev channels to help them with stack questions, troubleshooting, point them at docs - engage with 3rd party teams in labs channels looking to integrate with our tech - help spec boost bounties, engage uberhaus for funding and manage a boost board to engage devs - provide the above support to give daohaus a hackathon presence at eth events/hackathons #### V2 Support - customer service for bug reports ( maybe more ranger) - troubleshoot bugs, test, escalate when needed - manage the v2 bug backlog/kanban board #### Decentralized App Management - process documentation - systematizer #### Hype man - Sales and marketing #### Dev Advocate - interface with external devs and third party teams wanting buidl with our platform ### Alchemists #### full-time contributor Skills desired: on-chain analysis, financial modeling, tokenomics, game theory ### Paladins #### Data analysis, engineering, pipeline dev We're increasingly going to have lots of information about internal operations that will be valuable to organize in a more retrievable and reusable fashion.
