# CCO Talk Prep ## Overview ### Context We have an opportunity to share the idea of CCOs with the outside world in the expectedly-friendly setting of the WYO Hack DAO Day. We have been wanting to formalize our definition of a CCO, so this is a good forcing function to do just that. ### Objectives - Present the CCO mechanism to a wider audience of DAO and capital coordination enthusiasts - Get broader crypto community input on the CCO mechanism - Begin the process of getting regulatory buy-in ## CCO Definition A Community Contribution Opportunity (CCO) is a new approach to capital coordination for decentralized communities looking to amplify their abilities to achieve shared goals. ### Definitions - **Non-capital contributors**: existing members of the community who make in-kind contributions (eg time, work, connections, etc) - **Capital contributors**: new members of the community who make capital contributions - **Community token**: - **Transmutation**: as contributed capital leaves the DAO, it is replaced by the community token - **Ragequit**: burning ones DAO shares in return for a pro rata portion of the assets held in the DAO - **Minion**: a smart contract connected to a moloch DAO contract that helps the DAO perform additional functions ### Required Elements of a CCO - A moloch DAO dedicated to this purpose - Non-capital contributors (will get shares in the DAO) - Capital contributors (will get loot shares in the DAO) - Transmutation contract - Trust contract (locks some non-capital contributor tokens until vesting condition is met) ### Optional Elements of a CCO - ### Phases of a CCO #### 0. Setup - **Summon a new moloch DAO to facilitate the CCO** - Initial contributors receive full shares in the DAO according to their non-capital (and capital, if relevant) contributions thus far. This is determined socially by the group. - **Establish token economics** 1. Token supply 2. CCO token price 3. Market cap -- derived from (1) and (2) 4. Initial token distribution percentages -- eg how much goes to the following groups...? - Initial contributors - CCO capital contributors - Previous users (eg retroactive airdrop) - DAO treasury -- this typically includes future usage/liquidity mining allocations, future contributor comp, grant programs, incentives etc. - Can also lock up tokens or carve out separate allocations for other recipients or objectives - **Establish CCO parameters** - Contribution range (min and max $), both overall and for individual contributors - Contribution period (eg 2 weeks) - **Deploy and set up contracts** - Token contract - Transmutation minion - Trust contract - This is necessary depending on the ratio of allocations to initial contributors and CCO capital contributors, as well as how many shares the initial contributors have in the CCO DAO. #### 1. Contribution Period - Capital contributors make proposals to the DAO for loot shares, tributing a stablecoin (eg DAI) - 1 loot share per dollar - Amounts must conform to the individual min and max set in the previous phase - If/when the total amount contributed reaches the overall max, the contribution period ends and we proceed to phase 2 - If the total amount contributed does not surpass the overall min, the CCO is considered unsuccessful, no further work commences, and all contributors can ragequit to retrieve their DAI #### 2. Buidl - The non-capital contributors (ie shareholders) proceed with working on their project, spending the capital over time - To spend the capital, the shareholders make funding proposals to the DAO - As DAI leaves the DAO, it is replaced by the token at the rate determined by the CCO token price (as established in phase 0) - If at any time the capital contributors (ie lootholders) don't like what the shareholders are doing, they can ragequit to withdraw the remaining portion of their DAI capital and their portion of the token in the DAO - Once the amount of DAI capital in the DAO reaches 0, this phase is complete and we move to the next phase #### 3. Finish At this point, there is no more capital in the DAO for the non-capital contributors to spend on the project. A few things happen at this point: - The tokens in the Trust are unlocked and become claimable by the non-capital contributors - Tokens allocated to retroactive distribution are unlocked and distributed - Capital contributors can ragequit from the DAO to withdraw their portion of the tokens ### Modifications - Lock transferability on tokens until a later date -- creates more flexibility for additional activities prior to tokens becoming liquid, such as... - Follow-on CCOs / "rounds" to fund further work on the project - Setting up retroactive distributions - Setting up liquidity provision incentives - ## Talk Outline 1.
