--- tags: mcon2 --- # MCON Game Ideas **The Heart Club Game** Create 2 chains of people holding hands, about 5 people long. Designate one person (The Linker) and have them hold the hand of each person on the end of the chains, linking the chains. O | | | | | | | | | | ♥ ♣ Place 1 individual (The Dealer) at the head of the 2 chains (opposite the linker), and give them a deck of playing cards. Tell the first person to slowly show playing cards to the 2 people (The Viewers) on the end of the chains until the cards run out. When the person sees a card suited heart, they should squeeze the hand of the person whose hand they are holding, when that person feels a squeeze they should squeeze the next person's hand, and so on. The other person should do the same when they see a club. At this point the "Linker" Should be feeling a regular pulse of squeezes on each hand. When they feel a squeeze on their right hand, they should say "Heart" out loud. When they feel a squeeze on their left hand they should say "Club" out loud. Designate another group of 3 (The Ledgerkeepers) and give them pen and paper. When they hear the word "Heart" or "Club" they should draw a playing-card sized rectangle with a heart or club in it. At the end place the hearts and clubs in the slots to see how close to 13 hearts and 13 clubs they got (the count of each suit in a deck of cards) Create as many chains as needed to engage all the willing participants. **Variants** (depending on how many people there are, and how competent/ambitious the facilitator is at explaining) * Change the suits for different groups, making one of the groups a "Diamond Club" or "Heart Spade" * Double the operation once, counting the whole deck. Designate a separate group of drawers to handle "Diamond Spade" (could be competitive like "Diamond Club" vs "Spade Hearts") * Include 2 Jokers or other cards that don't belong and see what happens. * Mix decks so the number of suited cards is uncertain, then check at the end. * Put the Ledgerkeepers across the room, and designate 2 or 3 runners to take the message across to them. * Designate multiple groups of Ledgerkeepers and have them duplicate effort and see if their results match (kind of like blockchain nodes) * The game should resolve pretty quickly, so some variants and play again, increasing the perceived difficulty over time
