## Gas


As we all have probably noticed gas prices have really been a killer, and really an existential threat to some of the really fun use cases of Ethereum. As a result, we've been researching solutions such as L2 and side chains that can help DAOs succeed. While there are options available, we've landed on xDai as the best solution so far. In fact, you may have noticed that [we deployed a HausDAO to xDai](https://xdai.pokemol.com/dao/0x283bdc900b6ec9397abb721c5bbff5ace46e0f50) already!

This DAO mirrors the DAO on mainnet. No funds have been moved because we want your input before moving forward.

The reasons we want to move to xDAI include, but are not limited to:

- Easy token bridges
- Cheap reliable transactions
- Battle tested infrastructure that works today
- Strong Ethereum alignment

#### Question Time

1) Mainnet gas costs are going to the :moon: so this seems like a no-brainer! You'll be seeing more DAOs and NFT communities on xDai. Who knows, maybe the next [🍠](https://yam.finance/) will be on xDAI! <br /> **How do y'all feel about DAOhaus supporting xDai and encouraging new users to launch on [https://xdai.daohaus.club/](https://xdai.daohaus.club/) over mainnet?** <br /> <br />
2) HausDAO's WarCamp contracts (see the [WC GitHub repo](https://github.com/HausDAO/wc/) for details) will be **very expensive to deploy** (thousands of USD in ETH for gas fees). Add to that day-to-day operations and proposals. See where we're going with this? All in, we estimate $10-15k+ for contracts and operations over the next few months.<br /> <br /> Hence the proposal to shift HausDAO to xDAI! We would not be alone in this move, many others in the MC family of DAOs are also strongly considering it. A move like this would show that xDai is ready to roll and may drive a large migration of other apps that depend on cheap reliable transactions (communities and cool Ethereum projects!). <br /> **Should we migrate [HausDAO](https://pokemol.com/dao/0xdec090a12f2e280b089daa225892d9efa8ed0ee8/) itself to xDai?**

## setup

## start with dry run timeline
Run 1 dai though the whole process as a dry run first.

### mainnet

* send 1 dai to mainnet dao, sync balance (collectTokens). this is to keep a non zero balance in the dao incase we have to abort the mission
* make funding proposal for full amount - 1 to multisig (5days)
* from safe withdraw funds from dao
* from safe send 1 dai test transaction to bridge, set reciever to xdai multisig

* approve bridge relay for 1 dai
* send 1xdai to relay
* after 8 confirmations switch to xdai

### xDai

* in multisig verify xdai balance
* "deposit" 1 xdai to wxdai contract
* verify wxdai balance is now 1 in multisig
* transfer wxdai to dao
* sync balance in dao (collectTokens)

## start main migration timeline

Coordinate with xDai team and repeat steps above with bridge limit over next 3 days
