It’s a tool that can help with privacy, be used for proof of humanity, prevent spam attacks and is a kind of social glove. It’s related to soul bound tokens and allows you to validate yourself, without exposing your data. Using several Gnosis safes, the Bright DAO governs the Bright ID product. Currently the DAO has 1400 members with 43 proposals on 1hive.
