# FUX I had a bad experience of this last Dec after going way too hard for way too long. I had to step away and fix my health and my family. So I have devised a simple, but yet kinda complex model to stay focused AND motivated. I believe that discipline is more important than any type of motivation, because motivation burns the wick quickly as one thinks, gets excited, piles on work thinking like a superhero and can almost burn out before even starting. ## Layout So, it is two modules (which are combined): 1.) Total of 6 epoches (study/work sessions with a built in break) 2.) Priority of the work in a 3-2-1 format. * 3 = most important task (You will do 3 epoches) * 2 = the next most urgent task (You will do 2 epoches) * 1 = the least, this is more like a refresher of some sorts (Only 1 epoch) 3 + 2 + 1 = 6. This is where the 6 epoches comes from. The epoches are just pomodoro techniqes of a certain amount of pure focus, then a short break of doing nothing. A longer break can be done after 3 epoches if chosen too. * All these tasks could be related to the same project or totally different, it's just ranking the most important each day/week. --- ### Example | Epoch | Task # | Time | | -------- | -------- | -------- | | 1 | 3 | 60mins | | 2 | 2 | 60mins | 3 | 1 | 60mins | BREAK | | 1-2 Hours | | 4 | 3 | 60mins | | 5 | 2 | 60mins | | 6 | 3 | 60mins | I do 45 mins hard core focus, 15 min break of almost meditating (no phone, emails, etc). You notice that once you have done task 1, it's done for the day. So we get 3 epoches of task 3, 2 epoches of task 2 and 1 epoch for task 1. Each person will need to figure out what timeframe works the best. You can change up the times for the epoches, but keep the number of epochs at 6 each day (it's all about the math!) My ideal day is: Epoch 1 done before 7am (our son is up and ready to roll) Get him to school, back at the desk 9am 9am - 11am I get two more epochs done. Lunch, longer break of an hour or so. 12:30-2:30 - epoch 4 & 5 are done. Peronal break, mainly gym but any errands, etc. Pick up my son at 5pm, he's in bed by 9pm Finish with Epoch 6 at night and off to bed. This hits "spaced repition" with timed intervals/breaks. AND, depending on ones personal life/family/etc, it gives time for the other important things and almost no burnout, from my little n = 1 exeriement :+1: Big deadlines, my epochs are up to 2 hours total, and no halftime/personal breaks. NOW, the typical day is usualy filled with online meetings, etc, so I will move things around those to make it be 6 epoches then bed. ### Web3/NFT Idea I use a pomodoro timer, BUT, even better would be some sort of NFT based pomodoro timer in which you log your start/stop (make a call to a NFT contract) one could earn NFT mints/awards based upon completing an epoch?? Just thinking out loud about getting the user to interact with web3 (starting/stoping pomodoro) and seeing "trophies" being hanged on the wall in realtime. Could build online communities around this for leadreboards, etc. Or, it all sounds CRAZY!
