  • Document retention policy Record the meeting forsome of my colleagues we are recording this meeting for Hi I'm Cameron and I am the Principal Investigator on the NASA TOPS Grant. This is a grant that has been awarded to the company where I work, Don't Use This Code. Don't Use This Code is a private training and consulting company that works closely with institutions within the US Federal Government. As part of that, I also lead programming classes, perform consulting (writing code), and one-on-one coaching calls. Now, the position you have applied for is in support of our delivery of the NASA grant which focuses on training 20k people in modern open science practices. Today, I wanted to take 15 minutes to share more about the position with you, to get to know you a little bit better, and to prepare for scheduling our interview for next week. What is the job all about?Job Details TOPSt Homepage

  • Github Repo: https://github.com/NSLS-II-BMM/DUTC Tell Us About… Your Project Please describe the project you would like to work on for this course. Try and be as specific as possible. At BMM, I present a summary of a measurement as a thing that I call a "dossier". This is currently a flat html file which presents each individual XAS measurement in a form that is readily conusumable by the user. The current dossier, being a flat html file, depends on hard-coded links to files in the forlder structure written by the beamline software. So long as the user grabs the entire folder of data and drops it as is on their own computer ... the html files work just fine. This has provenm to be a very useful, very successful way of conveying measurements to the user. I would like something more "webby". Happily, I wrote my dossier code with an eye towards today's effort. That is, I have encoded adequate (I think!) information in the start documents of each DataBroker entry, that the equivalent of the dossier could be written on the fly iusing information in DataBroker.

  • Github Repo: https://github.com/vshekar/raster-explorer Tell Us About… Your Project Raster Explorer The project will ideally be a prototype which will allow beamline scientists and users to explore already collected raster data. The app will have two views, one of which will be a sample image with a raster grid overlayed. Each cell in the grid will be clickable which in turn will open the diffraction image stored in an HDF5 file. Currently, this exploration is only possible through the data acquisition QT application during data collection. This app will allow data exploration after all data has been collected. Required Data What data sets will you be using for your project?

  • Github Repo: https://github.com/DanOlds/dutc_data_viz Tell Us About… Your Project Plots rendered on a web front-end which are being fed by streaming event data via Kafka/0MQ. This mimics the current way we vis our data on the beamline (streams of data delivered via 0MQ), but those plots are simply matplotlib windows. There is very limited interactivity in them, and they can only viz the latest data (streaming). Neat additional features would be a historical data lookup (via Tiled query, for example). Proof of concept would be wonderful, even if a 'camera ready' product isn't ready at the end. Required Data

  • Github Repo: Tell Us About… Your Project Web-based application for viewing multi-dimensional data with the following capabilites: Ability to 'slice' the N-D data set through arbitrary 'planes'. Ability to 'sum' the slices around a central plane to imporove statistics. Ability to 'stream' data being experimentally acquired for viewing during beamtimes.

  • Github Repo: https://github.com/pbeaucage/rsoxs-experiment-designer Tell Us About… Your Project Hoping to build a web-based frontend for a backend codebase that helps users design experiments; essentially a wrapper where a user can pick two materials (loaded from hdf5 files on Github or in a simpler format if needed) and plot the result of the backend calculation, possibly with a few other visualization widgets. Prototype stage is probably a realistic goal. Required Data

  • Tell Us About… Links Github Repo: https://github.com/stuartcampbell/nsls2info Your Project A interface to the NSLS-II API where I am trying to pull together all the disparate information sources for the facility into a single API. But, an API is not very user friendly, so I would like a user facing application that will allow a user to view (and potentially edit) the appropriate data (the detail of which will be dependent on who the user is.) I see this project as the initial stages/steps towards an NSLS-II User Portal I would hope to have a good prototype that can be 'deployed' to get feedback from potential users. (This could be either a CLI or WebApp - as both will need to be written at some point)

  • Github Repo: Tell Us About… Your Project Please describe the project you would like to work on for this course. Try and be as specific as possible. Proof of concept, I would like to learn something new that I could potentially implement at the beamline when I see a potential and time for it. Perhaps something similar to a green LED light that shows whether the data being collected is fine or needs intervention at the beamline. Required Data

  • Github Repo: Tell Us About… Your Project Please describe the project you would like to work on for this course. Try and be as specific as possible. The project is to complete an analysis pipeline for scattering data collected CMS. We have a python-based code (SciAnalysis) for individual data images. We want to build the analysis pipeline based on SciAnalysis (or other analysis tool) and bluesky metadata. Required Data
