# Keeb Qs
A few things we need to figure out before we start looking at buying a keeb/parts.
## Layout?
- Do you require a **number pad**?
- Do you require the **function keys**?
- Are you okay with losing the **arrow keys**?
- Note, smaller keebs might seem "cramped" but actual typing area is consistent between layouts. Additionally, they are often better for ergnomics, allowing you to keep your mouse and your arms closer together, reducing strain.

## Wired or Wireless?
- Are you okay keeping the keeb plugged in, or is the option to connect via bluetooth and reduce desk clutter important?
---
## Linear or Tactile?
- **Linear** switches have a consistent, smooth travel when pressed.
- **Tactile** switches have a small 'bump' and provide some tactile feedback when pressed.
- We will not consider the 'Clicky' category of switches as they are generally not desirable for long term use.
---
## Thocky or Silent?
- Remember, most of the time, if you want a silent keeb, the feel of the key presses are going to be mushy or quite similar to a normal membrane keeb.
- The special feel of a mechanical keeb is accompanied by a louder sound and it's difficult to have one without the other.
---
## Aesthetics
- Specifically, what colour keycaps are you leaning towards?
