# Rexandrian "Rex" Halbeck ## House Halbeck ### Family The Halbeck Family is a rather large noble house and well known in the central Dominance. Currently ruled by Lord Agnolus Halbeck, a Coinshot Misting. His wife - Marinesse Halbeck - supports him in any way possible. That includes turning a blind eye on his mistresses and taking the blame for the disowned second son, Rexandrian. Hyran Halbeck - the first son of the Halbecks - is quite the gentleman and like to go to court and flirt with the ladies. While powerless, he understands the political games and is willing to do what needs to be done to further strengthen house Halbeck. ### Political Contacts House Halbeck is closley alligned with House Elariel - lead by Valette Elariel - and House Terroux - lead by Rivet Terroux - while the other houses accept the role of House Halbeck. ## Rexandrians Childhood ### The Early Years Rexandrians was different from the other children his age, he had heavy marks and scars across his face because of birth complication. He did not why, but they always looked down upon him and tried avoiding contact where possible. The only person he would consider a friend was his two year older brother. However, even he eventually stopped playing with him. Agnolus apparently forbid anyone from visiting or talking with him unless necessary, that also included the staff member. Being denied social contact and education, he played with weapons he was able to obtain from the staff members. ### The Disownment At age 8 Rexandrian was too much of a burden for the Halbecks. Talks were getting louder about a mysterious son that was kept like a prisoner. Some people even doubted his existence and the fuss behind it. Some rival family wanted to damage the reputation of house Halbeck, so Agnolus made the decision to renounce Rexandrian. He made a deal with the steel ministry so that the boy could life, without being in the way of house politics. They agreed to some rules and the enforcement of those rules. They included a weekly payment to the steel ministry to keep the secret and give some money to the boy to life. In turn, the boy would need to change his name, distance himself from the nobility and obey the law. Violation of these rules would result in suspension of weekly payments or beatings for Rexandrian. ### Snapping Rexandrian was put on the street with no home and no contacts whatsoever. From time to time an Obligator would come to him, drop him some coin. The early day on the street were very hard for him. People believed he was some Skaa orphan, like many around here. However, there was something different about him, which people could not pinpoint. Rexandrian had to quickly adjust to this new lifestyle and keep out of trouble, which proved to be nearly impossible, as one day he was mugged by a band of Skaa thieves which saw him constantly paying for this food unlike the other Skaa kids. Horribly outmatched in strength and number, he tried to imply that he was friends and the Lord Halbeck and that they would pay for what they had done. They laughted it off and made jokes about little Rex and his noble friends. A day later, an Inquisitor came looking for him at "informed" him about the breach of contact and gave him a beating like he never witnessed. First the thieves, now an Obligator, this was the day Rexandrian became the Misting known as "Rex". ## Living as a Skaa ### Thug life As Rex grew older, he understood his power and what he could and could not do with it. He was very careful not to use his power in the open, as he could not be sure that the Inquistors would kill him if he would use them in the open. However, buying vials for Pewter and using his power to survive eventually revealed that he had powers, and the rumors eventually reached House Halbeck and other Nobles. Although nobody openly talked about the topic, it was a huge scandal. Not only was the now 14-year-old noble son disowned, but it turned out he was a Misting all along. With this information, Lord Halbeck reached yet again out to the Steel Ministry to make sure that his son would not be treated like a Skaa in these matters. He now had worth and could be used. He could serve Lord Hasting and live a life as a semi-noble. Agnolus could give the boy that much. Rex, now living for 6 years as a Skaa wanted to hear none of that and joined the Garrison, keeping his secrets and using them to his advantage. ### Adjusting to the Skaa life As time flew by, Rex left the Garrison, some people grew suspicious and the whispers in the nobility seemed to have quieted down. With a rather stable reputation, he was able to secure a lot of easy jobs for guarding various places. On a good day, he was even invited to "play" the role of a city guard for the nobles. Wherever this was to provoke his father or any other reason, Rex did not care. He would accept any suitable job to broaden his understanding of Luthadel. He would not sit idle by while others danced and treated him as the but of every joke. For now, he would play the obedient fake Skaa the nobility expected of him.
