Fediverse & Social Web
---
The [fediverse](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fediverse) is growing—and so is the community building it. This track brings together developers, researchers, and enthusiasts working on federated social web technologies: [ActivityPub](https://www.w3.org/TR/activitypub/), [Mastodon](https://joinmastodon.org/), and beyond. From protocol deep-dives to real-world deployment stories, we explore what it takes to build open, decentralized social infrastructure. If you believe the social web should belong to everyone, this is your room.
This track is co-organized by FediDev KR and FediLUG (Japan), two fediverse communities based in Korea and Japan respectively.
FediDev KR (https://fedidev.kr/en/) is a community of fediverse developers living in Korea or working in the Korean language. Since its founding, it has run a series of sprint meetups where members collaborate on open source fediverse projects. Projects born from these sprints include Fedify, an ActivityPub framework now adopted by Ghost and supported by the EU Sovereign Tech Fund, as well as Hollo and Hackers' Pub.
FediLUG (Fediverse Linux Users Group, https://fedilug.y-zu.org/) is a Linux users group focused on the fediverse, founded in Japan in December 2023. It holds regular study sessions, hackathons, and reading circles, primarily online, and has participated in numerous open source events across Japan including the OpenSource Conference series and Kansai Open Forum. It welcomes everyone from beginners to seasoned contributors who share an interest in Linux and open software through the lens of the fediverse.
Together, the two communities bring a combined track record of developer-focused events and a shared commitment to growing the fediverse ecosystem in East Asia.
